Here are the videos most often recommended in each category. Click on the title links to read VF consumer reviews of each title.

Abs

For abs, try Cathe Friedrich's Ab Hits DVD or Kari Anderson's CURL. Also consider some of the many Pilates workouts on the market, which enhance core strength without the usual crunches. Other longtime VF favorites include Keli Roberts' Abs and More, the FIRM's 5 Day Abs, and Trish Muse's Ab Attack.

Lower Body/Legs

For the lower body, they don't come much tougher than the FIRM's Standing Legs and Cathe Friedrich's Leaner Legs (part of her Cross Train Express series). Cathe's Pure Strength: Strong Legs & Abs and Pyramid Lower Body are also excellent choices for building lower body strength. The FIRM's Tough Tape and Cathe Friedrich's Maximum Intensity Strength are total body workouts, but have particularly excellent lower body work.

Upper Body

If you want to hit the entire upper body, Cathe Friedrich has several great choices, including Pure Strength: Chest, Shoulders, Triceps and Pure Strength: Back, Biceps, Abs, her Slow & Heavy Series, the CTX Upper Body compilation, and Pyramid Upper Body. Cathe's full body workout, Maximum Intensity Strength, also has a great upper body section. Cory Everson's Get Hard Arms and Shoulders is a perennial favorite in this category, but please note it does not cover the chest and back. Last but not least is Kathy Smith's Secrets to a Great Upper Body, which covers the whole upper body in about a half hour.
