Desi Bartlett offers up a unique mix of exercises for total body conditioning. Providing 3 workouts, you'll focus on different aspects of your health: Cardio (for fat burning), Weights (for toning the muscles) and Stretch (to increase flexibility).
Nothing fancy, you'll stick with the basics. Marches, step-touches, side lunges, grapevines-all classic moves done at a quick pace to increase heart rate & calorie burn. Some moves offer additional toning benefits, such as side lunges to work the outer thighs.
Using one set of light hand weights, you'll work through multiple exercises to define the entire body. Lunges, squats, bicep curls, overhead press, overhead tricep extensions, upright rows and side laterals are all performed individually then Desi mixes it up by doing the lower body moves with the upper. (front lunges with bicep curls for example) She also includes moves that will benefit the back & chest areas that are often neglected. Performed at a somewhat aerobic pace, you'll continue to keep the heart pumping. (highly suggest light to medium weights so form doesn't suffer if the pace is too quick) Kristen demonstrates modifications in this section.
This segment is a great stand alone stretch (be sure to warm up first) or can be used after a run/cardio session. The postures are held at least 30 to 60 seconds. Desi really focuses on the lower body with deeper stretches for the hamstrings, hip flexers and quads.
Each of the 20 minute segments are easy to follow. I'd rate it as a beginner to intermediate fitness level. The beautiful setting makes it even more enjoyable to do. (see www.collagevideo.com for clips)
