Another reason to strength train

As if we needed another reason to not be cardio queens, here is another study done on the benefits of strength training (for women in particular)

Looks like it didn't matter whether weights or resistance bands were used for strength 👏🏾

I heard them talking about this on the radio today. They said that women benefit more than men and than even 10 minutes helps.

These articles keep me motivated to keep going, keep lifting, keep toning! I am 55 years old and have been working out to videos for almost 30 years and so far, so good. Not a single health issue, surgery, etc yet. Thanks for the article!

Who, me?? HAHAHA!

Looking at me too—I know that I *like* cardio and have needed to make a concerted effort for weight training to be a large part of my workout routine. I think it’s probably the feel good endorphins after a tough cardio workout that I don’t get with strength training. I still don’t get that same feeling, but I do get a great sense of accomplishment from the strength gains that I’ve achieved with my efforts.

I'm glad I *equally* like both strength training and cardio but glad I do prefer strength training. But, I know what you mean about the "endorphin high" after a good cardio workout. Nothing beats the feeling after a good 3 mile speed walk outside for me!!

Life after STS 2.0...after finishing various STS 2.0 rotations, I'm presently doing Tiff & Dan's Shred III program and really enjoying it. Sometimes I'll be subbing his cardio workouts for a good speed walk outside. I got great results during the summer of '22 from doing his Shred I & II...this time I'm hoping to keep up my strength gains from STS 2.0 and feel this is a good maintenance program.

Thanks for posting the link!

I wonder if body weight exercise is also affective…?
