I'm interested in daily lenses, though. I have an appointment next month and I'm going to look into them, based on the experiences I've read about on this post. VF is so informative!

I wear gas permeable lens (hard) and while I always had protein buildup problems it had gotten worse. My Contact specialist recommended the Clear Clean and then Bausch + Lomb Biotrue wetting solution (ph balanced to match tears). Both are marketed towards soft lens wearers but also work well with hard. Solved all my problems and I actual saw an improvement in the clarity of my vision with my contacts. The wetting solution also solved my dry eye symptoms so I could eliminate other moisture drops.

Not sure if it's exactly what you want. It mentions "enhances protein removal" and it certainly helps my contacts feel cleaner. I have the 2-week disposables and use just saline every night and this stuff at the one-week mark.
Costco carries this product as well! I used it when I had my monthly disposables.

Let me tell you, it only takes ONE TIME to mistake it for your normal saline solution. I used to always rinse my lenses in regular saline solution before putting them in in the morning *just in case* the cleaner didn't neutralize completely. Well, one morning I reached for the red-cap bottle and my eye instantly turned bloodshot. My prescription is so high that I never wear my thick glasses in public but I couldn't call into work sick that day since I was supposed to conduct interviews. Luckily the redness subsided quickly enough that I was able to pop in another lens and head out to work. After that day I made sure I put out the normal solution on the counter the night before.

I know exactly what you're talking about. I was on autopilot too.

Thanks so much everyone for the great replies!!

I will look into the Clean Care triple action solution (though it sounds a little scary) and the rewetting drops too. I truly don't think there is a protein remover with ingredients like supra clens but I can research.

The daily disposables are probably going to be my next step. I'm sure my eye dr mentioned them but since I was doing fine with the monthly disposables we decided if it ain't broke don't fix it. But then they discontinued the supra clens. Agh. I just went in March so I have awhile before I go back so I'll look into these other solutions in the meantime.

I have been wearing my glasses more since the covid lockdown but I still use my contact lenses a few times a week.

Thanks again everyone! Such great information as always here!

you can ask your doctor for free solution samples too - they get a lot of those that you can try before you buy.

I am relatively sure this is the replacement product: https://www.amazon.com/Boston-Enzyma...754659394&th=1. It is manufactured by Bausch & Lomb.

Also, one of the Wal-Marts near me might have some stock of the discontinued protein remover. I can check tomorrow if you’d like.

I saw those also, but I think that is for gas permeable lenses.

There's a WalMart about a half hour from me that says they have it in stock. I may take a ride over. Thank you for your offer though!

Sherry is right, this is only for hard or rigid gas permeable lenses, not for soft lenses.

ETA: But Walmart probably also carries the Clear Care. I think it's pretty readily available.
