Lightbulb Every Day in APRIL - It's a whole new SEASON!

THEME: Take on the challenge - get ON with it!

Welcome to the Every Day Checkin!
We are a small group who aim to do some form of physical activity every day, whatever that means for YOU (but don't kid yourself about it either)

Quite often we take on challenges (hey, committing to a rotation is a challenge!) so this month I'm inviting others to join OUR CONTINUOUS CHALLENGE to do something significantly physical EVERY DAY - in April.

NEWCOMERS, RETURNERS, LURKERS,... might as well say:
EVERYONE
is WELCOME!

Daily posts - not mandatory, nor even "sternly preferred" - but we love it if you do.
Weekly posts, drive-by notes, daily essays all about you.... any of those are perfectly fine - no pressure, EXCEPT to diligently try to add serious movement to your day - every day.

Lexicon:
WERD = Well Earned Rest Day, but even rest days can include movement
TERD = Totally Expected Rest Day, though not especially well-earned, like a planned happy event
TURD = Totally Unexpected Rest Day, hopefully also a happy event
HERD = of TURDS - usually declared after the THIRD TURD in a row. Try to avoid these at all costs, as they can move in & get comfortable, getting OUT of your comfort zone is the way to make change happen

Helen - Thank you for another wonderful start to the month! I used to love Patrick, even though he could be very complicated.

After taking several days off at the end of March, I'm feeling refreshed and ready to knock out April.

4/1 - Les Mills Sh'Bam #41, 30 minute
Peloton's 20 Min. Walk & Run w/ Selena

Hi Lili - Glad you're feeling in knock out mode.

Sunday 3rd
90min dog walk, but most of it in the park, so quite leisurely for me but Alice spent the whole time chasing the ball - she's SOOOO tired now. The cooler weather is great for her.
57min, Cathe - Boss Bands Total Body

Need my Arrow

So I better check in. I cannot believe it's a new month. Where did March go? (I should go back - I think I have some to finish checking in. Although March had more rest days than I've had in years!! SEVEN of them. ) I wish I had Lili's new found optimism. It's not there yet. But hope springs eternal.

Helen: Thanks for starting us off. Sorry I'm late to the party. How did you like Cathe's Boss Bands total body?

Lili: You sound relaxed!!!

On to me, me and all me:

4/1/2022: rowed 31 mins (21 mins. for a badge, 10 mins. cool down row), 45 mins. Ben Alldis Power zone endurance ride, 30 mins. Reba Ride with Jess King, 5 mins. Post ride stretch

4/2/2022: 15 mins. Bellicon workout, 5 mins. Emma Core, 2 hours of pickleball **

** it was so nice. It was in the 50s but sunny and we played outside. Our town's courts are finally UNLOCKED and we played for a couple of hours. I hope it continues. It's close (no spending $$ for gas - 8 mins. away) and the group of gals are great! I play in two other places (one outdoors, one indoors) both are 20-25 mins. away.

Down a person at work, so double duty again. (Makes me tired). I am absolutely positively not as young as I once was.

Bike has been at the shop for 2 weeks and ready to pick up. I want to get an inexpensive little odometer for it. Looked into computers - I have an old garmin. It probably will work just fine. The odometer would be a $25-$35 expense and probably do all I need it to do. (Mph, trip odometer, odometer, etc.) The garmin (that I am fairly certain still works! That does maps, heart rate, evelation, etc. etc. . . . But like all technology - since it's 10 years old, it's out of date.) Let's hope for some sunny days before my metric century so I can get out and road test it and get some kinks out! (Now I have to split outdoor sunny times between cycling/pickleball. Hmmmm).

Gotta run. Have a great week.
Waves to all!

Helen - Sounds like Alice had a great workout! I haven't tried either of the Boss Bands w/o's in their entirety. Did you like it?
Cleda - I'm glad you are enjoying pickleball. One of these days I will have to try it. I love having a bike computer, I want to know how far I've gone. I only used the cadence feature when it was on the trainer. You do love your technology, so I'm sure you'll find something that suits you.

4/2 - dog walk
Gilad's Total Body Sculpt, w/o 1
30 Min. Boosted Walk w/ Leslie

Simple odometer

Lili: I had a "Flightdeck" that was (wired) technology that came with the bike (back in 1999). But, it wore out! It was basic, simple and I could see how far I had gone, mph, trip, and total (I had over 11k miles on it when it bit the dust). I like that info. All of the odometers are now wireless. (or I should say most). When I ride my bike outside, it's for fun. NOT training. Training miles are done inside. (Cadence, etc,) the only thing I train for outside is "time in the saddle" and hills. (real live hills!) It is a totally different experience/feel than hills on a stationary bike. Nothing like the real thing. So, I'm looking to replace the "flightdeck" (which is no longer made) and technology really has come a longgggg way since 1999. That's like lifetimes ago! But simple is best when I'm riding outside.

Of course, I'll let everyone know what I get and how it works. (Was there any doubt?)

Cleda, does your bike shop not sell simple trip gadgets? When I bought my bike I bought one there and they put it on for me. But yes, that was several years ago too. I bought one on Amazon just a few years ago when I put my bike on the trainer.

I'm sure they do. I just didn't look around. They thought I wanted/needed the Garmin 830, which they had in stock (surprise!) and could put on when they tuned it up. Came with the hr monitor. Ummm . nope ... not ready to take the plunge. I researched and wishlisted a few on Amazon and will figure out what one I'll go with.

Boss Loops Glutes & Core
did that one with a silicon/rubbery booty loop and it rolled
bought 4" wide elastic and made my own - two strengths - but haven't tried them since, so the workout didn't go as it really should have, but was fine

Boss Bands Total Body
it was ok - the 57min went by fairly quickly, which is a good sign the workout wasn't super boring

Yes, Alice slept all evening & only put a paw up to me when she wanted dinner.

Yeah, the biggest issue with tech is that it's considered old after just 3 years. Often it's inbuilt - the connections are only made to last that long - thinner layer of metal = cheaper.
