I couldn't exercise for over 8 weeks when I broke my ankle. It was probably close to three or four months before I could do a 'real' (but still very easy) workout. It really didn't take all that long after that to get back into shape. Just do what you can, be consistent, and when you are ready to re-start, take it easy and build back up gradually and safely.
