Sometimes the series are better than the books. I find that to be true with Masterpiece Mysteries. I watched the first season of Vienna Blood and then started to read the first book of the series, A Death in Vienna, and the relationship between the detective and the psychiatrist was not nearly as interesting. Similarly, I read one of the Sydney Chambers books and did not enjoy it as much as the Granchester series.

I was looking forward to seeing this when I heard they were doing a TV series. The cast are nothing like the characters in the book. They don't have a cast for Sara Linton maybe if the series is successful, she will appear later on. (Sara didn't appear in the Will Trent series until the 3rd book.) They do have Angie Polaski

I'm still going to watch it. You never know it might be great TV series. I remember Rizzoli and Isles were nothing liked the characters in the book, and I really like the TV show.

I loved the Will Trent series of books. I too was disappointed in the casting on the surface but I'll keep an open mind. I am concerned about the tv series following the books though. I felt Karin's Pieces of Her miniseries was totally butchered and very different from the book. I couldn't even finish watching the series.

I'm a huge Karin Slaughter fan, this is the first I've heard about a tv series. I was hoping for Adam Driver as Will, this guy isn't giving me any of Will's signature awkwardness. Angie seems much more on the money.

A couple of quick listens: first "Remarkably Bright Creatures", which I really enjoyed, and just finished "Lessons in Chemistry" which I absolutely loved. I guess it will be a series (Apple TV+) with Brie Larson.

I'm also reading "The Last Flight" which is a pretty good page turner, too!

I finished Talking to the Dead by Bonnie Grove and Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger

I found the former a good read but the latter was 'meh'.

I haven't posted here in a while, and I've read quite a few books since my last post. My two recent reads are Killers of a Certain Age by Deanna Raybourne and Almost the Truth by a new to me author, Margaret Yorke, recommended by Sherry and a gift from my Secret Santa. I really enjoyed both of these books. The first book is about some bad a** female assassins in their 60's who find out a hit has been put out on them by their former employer. It was a kind of fun, quick read. I loved Margaret Yorke's writing style. The story was different, and I didn't figure out the twist until near the end. I'm looking forward to reading more Margaret Yorke. Thanks to SS, I have a couple more. All in all two quite enjoyable books.

I'm currently reading a book by Hazel Gaynor The Cottingly Secret. So far it seems pretty good. I was on a long library wait list for The It Girl by Ruth Ware. It's a Kindle library lend. I like Ruth Ware, so I'm looking forward to reading that one.

I've added Killers of a Certain Age to my list; it looks like a book I'd enjoy.

I finished The Lindbergh Nanny by Mariah Fredericks and really enjoyed it! Anyone who enjoys historical novels that are labeled fiction but contain a whole lot of fact would like this.

I'm half way through Before She Knew Him by Peter Swanson and finding it to be a good mystery novel.

Finished The Cottingly Secret. I really liked this. It is based on a true story about the Cottingly fairies sitings by two girls during the 1920's. It was interesting, and seemed to be true to the historical accounts. I enjoyed it a lot and would like to read more by this author--Hazel Gaynor. There was also a movie based on these sitings, Photographing Fairies. I saw it years ago and remember liking it.

I just finished the new Ruth Ware, The It Girl. It was pretty good. I figured it out well before the end. I also became somewhat annoyed by the main character, but all in all, it was a pretty good read.
