Just finished

Homecoming by Karen Morton

I enjoyed it (a lot!) After reading reviews on Good reads, many say this isn't one of her better ones?!? So, I probably will put her on a list of authors to read. Thanks for the suggestions here.

I started the first of the Cork O'Connor Series this a.m. (Iron Lake).

and today I'm off to return Homecoming and pick up The Spy Coast which I'll read after I finish the Iron Lake. I'm not good at reading 2 books at once. Never have been.

Thanks again to everyone for all the recommendations.

[QUOTE=toaster;3024627]I have to pick a new novel, but I decided that for my trip out of town next week, I'm going to re-read Stephen King's (or more accurately, Richard Bachman's) Blaze.
Finished this on my trip - loved it just as much the second time!!!

Started Behind Her Eyes, another thriller, a few day ago.

I just finished The Anthropocene Reviewed: Essays on a Human-Centered Planet by John Green. I didn't expect to like this, but ended up really enjoying it. A nice combination of memoir, musings, and interesting facts/history. I've been in quite a reading slump this year, so this was a nice surprise.

I've started Family Lore by Elizabeth Acevedo. I knew I would like it as soon as I saw the cast of characters listed in the front.

I really appreciate when authors do that.

That is helpful! It's actually hard for me to read a story when the main character has a very unusual first name - I've turned down books for that reason.

The Hunter is a slog for me so far but I'm staying for the beautiful writing.
It's so disappointing when a favorite author's books don't hold up. I liked the Dublin Murder Squad a lot but felt like it trailed off toward the end, especially in The Secret Place, then couldn't get into The Searcher at all.

Currently reading A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J Maas and just started listening to Choose Your Story, Change Your Life by Kindra Hall, which was recommended by a client.

The Hunter did redeem itself about 2/3 of the way through so overall I enjoyed it but it was still a disappointment.

I finished Iron Lake (First of the Cork O'Connor mystery series) William Kent Krueger. The end part picked up for me. It seemed like (to me) it took forever to set the story up though. Hmmmm. I will go on to book #2 (need to request it from the library).

about to start The Spy Coast by Tess Gerristsen

Happy reading!
