Hi everyone,

I started my workout week yesterday with Growingannas upper body, as an alternative to my usual Caroline (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s0Qb...4uVpN&index=22) and it was a good choice because I had a huge day on Tuesday and I was pretty run down and not prepared for a full intensity Caroline workout.

Today was lower body with Caroline EPIC Endgame (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KPgU...4uVpN&index=23) and it was great, they were trisets with 30/30/30 on three different exercises then 30 seconds off. There was a lot of unweighted work in this one which made it more doable, but I still worked myself really hard and my legs were shaking by the end.

Tomorrow I was thinking of Firm Volume 1 but that may end up being way too much, so maybe Volume 6 again?

Eventmom I bet that Esssentrics Full Body Toning was terrific!

Buzzer I think Lucy is doing a little better? I decided to go ahead and get an appointment with the orthopedic which is on April 15. I'm hoping they will confirm she's in good shape or recommend PT but that surgery will be off the table. Fingers crossed!

Haha thank you about the laziness! Sometimes I think I'm really tired, but when I start working out I perk right up, so it was laziness talking. Actually today I really thought I was tired, although I wasn't trying to skip out on my workout, and I was very pleased that I perked up a lot and pushed through.

Yes, I think I will end up mostly just repeating the 12 weeks! I'll repeat all the Dream Body workouts, I may switch out a few of the Caroline strength with other Caroline strength (she has so many! ) and shop my DVD collection to find some easier but still sweat inducing workouts for Fridays to make it more even, since I ended up subbing out most of the workouts I had chosen.

I don't have Kick Max (or Hard Strikes) but I know Kick Max is supposed to be a perennial favorite of Cathes, so I'm not surprised to hear you liked that one better! Congrats on the XTrain legs being easier too!

I really like Ballroom Aerobics! That is probably a good choice for my easier but still a workout Fridays.

Your island is going to be gorgeous by the time you'e done with it!! That tabletop fire pit looks really great too!

Cathe Xtrain Tabata... DONE!

I did all 5 tabatas, of course I paused the DVD between each tabata, as well as sometimes when she was doing the 10 second recovery. I actually did pretty good! I jumped and reached! I was out of breath, my heart rate was really high, but I actually felt pretty good doing it. My pauses weren't that long, and I kept on going. I actually really loved the workout!

So this will be a long post. This is what happened yesterday! I saw some lights on the other side of the highway (285) as we were going home, and told LB to see what was going on (she's my informer). She said "it's just cop cars pulled over with their lights on." Weird, but whatever. So I was in the left lane on 285, and suddenly 2 sheriffs come off c-470 (another highway) and race across both lanes and block the left lane. I get over to the right lane, and pull into the pie shaped area between the on ramp and the right lane in case other cops are coming onto the road. The two sheriffs race out of their cars and jump the median super fast... I thought someone went over the side, I saw a bunch of dirt flying. Then they luckily had their backs to us, because they opened fire on a truck going the other way. I looked to see if the guy was shooting back so i knew if we should duck... he was ducking in the truck and moving away from the drivers door, but kept going.

Then the sheriffs pick up some of those pop your tire strips that I didn't see them put down, jump the jersey barrier, throw the stuff into the back, and race off. meanwhile, there are probably 20 sheriff cars going either direction on 285. I sat there, now quite knowing when i should move. The first sheriff took off and did a big U turn to go the wrong way in traffic, and he forgot to close his back hatch so stuff was flying out. The other sheriff stopped and picked the stuff up, and took off. There was a whole parade lined up behind me, and finally enough time passed that i didn't think any more cops would be racing onto 285 so i took off for home. LB was crying... I said "that was so cool!!" I was very impressed with the sheriffs. I don't know what was going on, or what he did, but wow. To be the front car to something like that. That was insane!!
I think the dirt flying was the guy getting off the 285 service road and onto 285.

So anyhow, we were the front car. I was thinking "accident, must be bad the way the sheriff is hustling" so the opening fire thing was confusing. I'm glad they had their backs to us, and the guys didn't fire back! So crazy.

So here is the report of what happened. Anyhow, I am so grateful we weren't caught in the crossfire, I had no idea the "suspects" fired at that point. The Sheriffs just stayed where they were, firing. I had no idea. I have never seen anything like that, I probably never will again!

So I guess that was a workout yesterday too, because my heart was racing and both LB and I were shaking!

Maybe that's why tabata was so much easier today! HAHA!

So we did get our fire pit (that's where we were headed home from) and last night we both sat outside with it and roasted some teeny tiny marshmallows we had. It is really pretty!!

Ebianco: if you can do volume 1 after a leg workout, I will so super impressed. I'd go with Vol 6 or something easy, like a stretch! HA! I hope the news on Lucy is good. Sounds like she's doing good, so I would think at this point surgery is off teh table as an option. Hopefully!!

I didn't know kickmax was a Cathe favorite! That's funny. It is a fun workout, and that's saying a lot since I don't really like kickboxing!

Eventmom: I am more of a fan of donkeys than horses, however I have to really think if I want to take care of one for the rest of my life!

today - not up for TA. Did fitprime dance moves + Jacquelyn dancer body sculpt

ebianco - the long essentrics that I've got are all pretty good. I know Sahra is not a big favorite on VF but I like her low keyed cueing. I hope you get good news on Lucy - getting specialist opinion makes sense, it could be something where if you do something soon you can avoid something bigger.

buzzer - ah just FYI - donkey lifespan is 27-40 years... that is longer than horses. And Oh Crap! on the sheriff stuff. One time I saw as something like 20 police cars - I lost count- going max speed (other side of highway). Turns out a prisoner being transported had somehow overpowered the police in the vehicle - every Tulsa PD was on their way to help! so your story reminded me of that - super serious stuff glad you are okay. Also, 285 - I've driven most of that one time when I did some crazy route from my Taos house to Laramie.

Hi everyone,

Wow this weekend is going by fast. I am catching up from Friday:

Friday: I decided to do something lighter and pulled out Fitprime Pump, and used lighter weights and it was great! I definitely need to do the Fitprimes more often. You can make them harder if you want, or keep them easier and the music and Anna Benson vibe is excellent. I also really like Heidi as an instructor. She's all smiles and helpful form pointers!

Saturday: I had Dream Body Cardio series InTENse on my schedule, and that one is hard even for a DB...so I compromised and did the first three cycles, which was about 33 minutes, then stretch for a 40 minute workout. I was short on time so I'll use that as my excuse I was actually surprised and impressed with myself that I could (mostly) keep up with the wall squat set with all the arm exercises. Then later, I went for a really long walk (I got in about 10k steps so it was a lot!).

Today: I didn't quite feel up to fnishing InTENse, but I kept with a HIIT that was definitely easier (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v35D...ndex=92&t=833s) in fact I still had some energy after so I went for a 15 mile run on my treadmill - it's still cold outside! And then a 15 minute extended stretch for a 54 minute workout.

And now I have two rest days, but I do hope to go for a long walk tomorrow.

Eventmom I know some people prefer Sahra because she's way less chatty than Miranda, but Miranda is "warmer" on screen. I definitely think they both have merit. I always think "I need to do Essentrics/CS more often!"

Wow I had no idea donkeys lived so long!!

Buzzer Haha I definitely could not face Volume 1 on Friday, or even Volume 6! The Fitprime was good though. I think I'll add a lot more of them for the upcoming 12 weeks.

I thought I'd read on GD about kickmax but I could be wrong! There used to be so much talk about Cathe on GD and I was like "ugh not interested" but now I'm excited when there's even a little discussion on the instructors that even remotely interest me! I forgot to follow up on something you said a while earlier, but you said something about they're not approving any new members?? It is such a shame because there is (I'm sure) a whole new generation of "VFers" in the form of youtube instructor followers!

WOW that is a crazy event, I read the the Facebook press release you posted!! The police sound like they are totally on top of their game!

Xtrain Chest, Back and Shoulders... DONE!

So I continuing on with the Xtrain rotation. I am done with the "Xtrain plus Ride" rotation, since it was only 4 weeks, and I am on to the "Undulating Rotation" which is basically the same thing, however instead of a "ride" there is another leg day. I figure I can exchange the additional leg day with a free-choice cardio if I want. That's what I liked about the ride rotation, is I did a day of whatever cardio I wanted!!

I was supposed to do the disc LABELED C,B and S, however for some reason, when I set up my workout, I put in Burnsets. So I did CB and S from burn sets, which also had a core workout on it so I did that too. Afterwards, I realized I had put in burn sets instead..oh well. It was good. I did go up in some weights, as I am trying to increase my back strength. I still can only do 5's on back flies though! Cathe was at 12 and 10's, and I can't even imagine! I tried 8's but ended up pausing the video and dropping back. Going up higher I could move the weights, but didn't feel it where I was supposed to. Cathe is just super strong!

I did NOT sleep well at ALL for two nights (like, 2-3 hours a night!). So yesterday, after my workout I was fading while LB and I were discussing the island project, and I said "I am going to take a nap." She said "OK" then kept talking. I told her again. She kept going. Finally (because I always say I will say it nice twice then I get angry) she kept going and I told her to go practice her violin because I AM TAKING A NAP.

She leaves, I lay down and start fading in and out. She yells out after a song "how was that?" so I have to wake up. She comes in a few times. Finally I am furious! She will not let me sleep! So I sit out with her while she plays, I become a somewhat reigned in slave driver. I was exhausted and grumpy. She ended up having to practice violin, plus work on her paper until her friends were ready to play.

I was just so exhausted! DH of course had things to do in the garage and studying in the camper, so he couldn't help. So once her friends came over I couldn't sleep, I had to be the responsible adult. One fell off the deck so I had to attend to her. Then they needed a snack. They finally went up to her BFF's house, but by then it was after 3 and if I nap then, I will not sleep the next night and have more screwed up days than one.

So I spent the day completely exhausted and cranky. I did get a few things done, however I was miserable. Nothing would make me happy because I was so stinking tired. Plus I ate my way through the day trying to get energy. I knew it wouldn't work, but I was still hand to mouth with all bad things all day. Ugh. Not a day I want to repeat.

So yesterday I was exhausted and cranky, and ate like a kid on Christmas but didn't enjoy it. Last night I went to bed at 7:30, and woke up at 4. So I think I got enough sleep for today!

Today I have cardio legs on the schedule, I will see if I do it! That's a toughie. I do need to do something tough though to make up for all the bad I ate yesterday!

Ebianco: OK, I feel better that you had to skip the volumes! HA! I was thinking how I would totally wimp out on that one. I'm happy you did because that would have been near impossible! I love the Fitprimes. I always, in my mind, think they are easier, however I am always surprised at the end at how they really were a great workout! They aren't killer, but they are good, solid workouts. If I want to increase the cardio, I can, if I want to increase the weights, I can. They are just good. I am that way with the basics too. They can be completely too easy if I let them be, otherwise if I up the weights or cardio impact, they are good too!! I remember donating my basics and thinking "I will never replace these", and now I have them all again.

Doing Ballroom Aerobics made me realize that I want to add a few Firms in. I sure miss the Firm!

Yeah, I guess Wendy has pretty much checked out of the site. People know people that are trying to register, but they never get approved. No one can get in touch with Wendy. People are offering to become moderators and help with the site, and no response. Of course, there are people saying "she's BUSY" or "she has had some rough times" however no one seems to really know her personally, and apparently she's been going through rough times for a few years and hasn't been able to attend to the site. I have gone through rough times, and I guarantee they let up a bit so you can attend to the details you had let slide! So anyhow, that's why I stopped renewing my supporter status. I didn't know what the money was going for anymore, and no one could even get in touch with her to find out if we will still have a site in the future.

There have been a few threads of people getting excited that there are new members listed, however I have no idea how they are "new members" because apparently they are bots and don't post. I think there is a whole new generation of people that would want to join, however there hasn't been any new members for a few years. Then, as people fall away (as they often do), the GD gets smaller. I just don't think VF will be around for long, and that makes me really sad! This was always my go-to site for everything!

So that's what I've picked up on from reading the GD about the VF drama. It's so sad! I am always happy I can still post my check in's every morning!

I am the same as you, I used to roll my eyes at the Cathe threads. Especially the long ones! Now I see a name I am familiar with (mostly anymore they are YouTube workouts and I don't follow those) I get all excited. I have no idea anything about the new Cathe set that is supposedly coming out soon or never, however every time that thread is bumped I am reading it!!

Eventmom: I had no idea donkeys lived that long either!! I told LB she needs to learn all she can about donkeys if she wants one. She can't just say "I want a donkey" like Veruca Salt, and get one. She needs to learn all she can about them and show a real interest in not only having one and riding it to her friends house, but also in taking care of it EVERY day. Especially if this is an animal she may have until she's 50!!

Saturday - TA 2.9 day 10 + about 15 min TA dance aerobics
Sunday - 10 min stretch, rode in a clinic, 30 AJ cardio barre + 10 min stretch
today - TA 2.10 day 1 + 20 min cardio

After this clinic I think I need to up my fitness. sigh. This new level of TA has 3 moves, 30 reps each where I have my knees on a chair, hands on the floor. My shoulders are not going to do this. Trying to figure out what to do. Right now I'm getting 20 reps of the first 2 moves then standing for the third.

ebianco - I like that FP too! Those workouts are kind of sneaky not too hard but a better workout that you might think.

buzzer - I have a friend that said their donkey was 50 so I looked it up. I have no idea if that donkey was 50 but quite possible. The horse life span is listed as 25-30... I've known plenty to live into their 30s. any way as you say certainly something to consider before getting one.

Xtrain Cardio legs... DONE!
Xtrain hard strikes... 20 minutes done.

So I did cardio legs... and it wasn't as bad as the last however many times! I gave it my all, even though I didn't feel particularly energetic. It was good though! I grabbed 12's when Cathe grabbed 15's, but I made sure to go fully into the squats, lunges, and jumps. So I made up for it! I was so uncomfortable the rest of the day when I sat though! HA! LB did 2 karate classes (45 minutes each) and 1/2 hour of teaching the little kids, so I sat a lot. It was so bad. They give us hard metal folding chairs to sit on, and I was constantly squirming. I started counting down the minutes until class was done just so I could be done sitting! Very uncomfortable.

Hard strikes today was OK... I have discovered the sides of my feet don't hurt during this workout because of what I did in days past, they hurt because this workout hurts them. It's all jumping, and constantly she has your legs wide in a shuffle side to side. My feet were killing me, and I found I was modifying things to avoid the jumps (my calves were aching from this and from cardio legs jumping yesterday!) and because the outsides of my feet hurt. So I put in kick strikes, but seriously I was just done. I did maybe 5 minutes then laid on the floor to read a bit.

So I wish I would have done a low cardio day and picked something fun, however now I know and will do that instead of kickboxing when it comes up in the rotation next time!

Yesterday we did school, then we went roller skating for two hours, then to a park for about an hour, then all the karate. It was exhausting for me, I can't imagine how LB felt!

Today is all at home, and it has started to snow. The wind is insane though! Very windy!

Eventmom: Sounds like you are at a level that makes my wrists hurt just reading about it!! I am starting to investigate donkeys more this morning. I think a donkey living to 50 is kinda like a person living to be over 100... possible, however not necessarily common!! They are interesting though. I will be OK with a donkey living to 50 as long as I can be the person that lives past 100!!

buzzer - snow! I'm so sorry - I'm whining because I can see lows in the 30s coming up - it's april! in oklahoma! I agree living to 50 for a donkey can happen but not common. I actually decided not to breed the mare I've competed so much because I can't be sure I'll outlive it.

Xtrain Bis and Tris... DONE!

This workout is like a break for sure! After the cardio legs, I was feeling beat up! Yesterday I took a nap in the "napping chair" (massage chair) because my body just felt so sore. Today I felt more revived, and I really felt like I needed bis and tris as a "rest" day! Tomorrow is another leg day, and I feel like I will be ok doing it.

Today is our last day of CC, and I can't tell you how happy I am about that! We can focus on other things, get our math book done, and do the science that we have. I am so excited to be done! LB does her final paper presentation. They read their papers every time they write them, and this is the final research paper! She had to use 3 sources and write it from first person. She is a member of the mound builder tribe (the Mississippians). We pulled together a costume and some props... she is going to have a blast! Then there is a pizza party and ice cream. So it'll be good.

She also has violin lessons and group, so it's a lot for our last day. However, when it's over it'll be good.

My abs were super sore yesterday, as well as my lower back. I am sure it was from cardio legs! I really went for it on that one. I probably should have rested yesterday instead of trying to do the cardio. I am figuring this out bit by bit. I do like Xtrain though!

I am looking at FitSplit since it's on sale right now on Cathe's site, and I want to get Cardio Barre since that's my last Low Impact series disc I need (so I can get the free shipping). Luckily it's on sale until the 18th so I can read reviews... some I am reading right now aren't so good. So if either of you has tried this set, let me know what you think! Do I neeeeeed it?

I have a bunch of Cathe's I haven't done, however after I am tired of Xtrain I am thinking of doing some of her rotations she has posted that include a bunch of her sets. So that's probably how I'd use them. Plus I like cardio and weight training, like in 4 day split, and it sounds a lot like that. So in my mind, I would like it!

Eventmom: We are supposed to have "light snow" again today. I remember getting snow on June 6th once, and we've even had snow on July 4th!! We were outside and freezing watching fireworks. March and April are usually our snowiest months, so it's no surprise to get snow. I guess the only month I'd be surprised to get snow is August!

what was I thinking? I was not up for TA - feeling sore and achy and I decide this was the workout!

buzzer - I can imagine having one less thing on your to do list is a good thing! I'm sure LB will do great. I have NO cathes so can't be helpful. ugh on snow. I guess a light snow would be okay but still, ugg.
