Please help pick easiest step dvds

I'm hoping someone here can please help pick the easiest step dvd to start with. I have recently bought a step and a few DVDs but as I'm a bit choreography-challenged I would appreciate your help in recommending what one is best to start with.

The DVDs I've just purchase (thanks Mary) are the following:

- Christi Taylor Humble Beginnings (includes CIA5004, CIA7002, CIA9801)
- Christi Taylor Fantastic 4 (includes Still steppin and step heaven)
- Cathe Cardio Hits (includes Power Max, Step Fit and Step Works)
- Kari Anderson Step & Hi-Lo
- Amy Bento Advanced Step Challenge

Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer

Here's how I would rate them, going from easiest to hardest in terms of choreography:

Cathe Cardio Hits
Kari Anderson Step
Fantastic Four (although the second stage of Step Heaven made me cry until I learned it)
Humble Beginnings (Christi will get you through it)
Advanced Step Challenge

Although, if you've never stepped before, any of these are ambitious to start with.

Step Heaven Stage 2 didn't actually make me cry, but I probably threw a few things in frustration. I consider one of my greatest achievements in life to be Step Heaven Stage 2. . And it is soooo much fun!

I think Still Steppin' Just For Fun is her easiest.

After I did Stage 2 of Step Heaven for the first time all the way through, I started a VF thread titled, "I AM a Steppin' Queen!"

Stage 1 and Stage 3 of that workout are much more doable.

These are the easiest ones I have in my collection.I think that any of these would be great for a beginner.
Debra Mazar- let's get stepping
Kari anderson-Go
from FitnessFavorites:
(these might be available at collage or Mary's)
The Firm Cardio Step Mix
The firm Ballroom Aeobics
Plus they are all fun workouts

if you can use old vhs, there are so many great stepping workouts
The old Cher workout with Keli
Richard Simmons put out one step video, it was so much fun, you could fallover laughing, I did read he was going to put it on dvd
Gin Miller has some vhs workouts -if she has any on dvd those early workouts are easy to follow and fun

5004 from Humble Beginnings is very, very easy, and Christi breaks it all down very well. 7002 is slightly harder, while 9801 is pretty complex.

Cardio Hits is another great basic step DVD. Cathe is the best cuer she's ever been in this collection. My favorite mix from this is the warmup and first segment of Step Works, followed by the combos from either Power Max or Step Fit.

Fantastic 4 is really great but more complex than Humble Beginnings or Cardio Hits, so it's better to do those other 2 first IMO.

Kathy Smith's step workouts are on DVD, too, and they have basic choreography. I think they're fun, too.

I pretty much agree with the ratings of the level of difficulty as described. Word of warning---please don't start with ASC! The first time I did the warm up I was ready to cry---and I'd been doing step for years! I did learn it eventually, but it took awhile. OTOH, I think any of the Cathe step is easier choreography-wise, maybe not cardio-wise.

I do think that the early Gin Miller step was rereleased on DVD. Her choreography is very basic and was a great start for me back in the day when conquering the turn step was a major deal. Have fun---step can be a great workout and IMHO is still fun to do.

I have an extra copy of a Cathe Basic Step.
I got one with my little bitty Cathe step back in the day.
A kind VFer gave me one with a different format that I like better.
PM me your address if you want it.

Be warned, after finally mastering this thing I had delusions of step-ability. Alas, it was not to be.
I can do the cardio requirements of step DVDs; but when they are choreographed in such a way as to require either coordination or total lack of fear of falling on my face, I am out.

I learned how to step years ago (1992?) using the Jane Fonda and Buns of Steel videotapes that were available at the time. It was very up up down down, but every now and again there would be a turn step!

My first step tape after starting to read at VF was Cathe's Wedding Tape, which I still believe is a great workout for those who want to dip their toes into the stepping world. Until Cathe did a basic step workout, this was the go-to "introduction to Cathe" workout.
