I have a more rectangular bolster but truth be told, I only rarely use it for supta virasana (not something I've been practicing much lately). Someday, I hope to have more time to lengthen my quads and then this will be a very handy prop!

I got a round one but wish I'd gotten rectangular instead. The round one is too high/extreme for many poses (even though I'm very flexible).

I have both a round and a rectangular. By far, my rectangular gets more use.

If you can only have one, I recommend the rectangular, and if you should need something round, rolled up blankets make a great substitution. I use the thick acrylic Svaroopa blankets to make a round bolster but you can sub your own thick blankets or two Mexican blankets stacked and rolled like a jelly roll.

I know you've already decided, but I bought the round one first because we use them in yoga class so I thought I'd prefer it, but then I did a Rodney Yee video and the round one just wasn't suitable, way too big, so now I have both.
