June 2022 Add 'em up Goals & Habits Challenge~All welcome!

Come join us in setting and achieving goals to promote your overall wellness! We are a friendly and welcoming group who love to chat when we have time, but please also feel free to join us if you want to just focus on your goals. No pressure here to address everyone; share as little or as much as you want!

We have been doing this challenge for many years now. While it is not strictly about fitness goals, we agree that our daily habits work together with our fitness goals to make us happier and more balanced, so we combine them in this challenge. Feel free to join us! You can tailor it to your schedule if you need to take a week off for vacation or only count so many days. Whatever works for you!

Premise: Choose your goals for the month. Every time you complete a goal you get a point. Multiply your number of daily goals by the number of days in the month. This is your max total points. If you choose, reward yourself for reaching a certain percentage of your max possible (I use 90% for my personal goal), multiply by your max to get your total goal points. I also give myself extra credit options.

**Take this challenge however you wish. I used to total my points all the time but have fallen away from that and now just track my goals. There really are no rules, your challenge is your own, we're just here for support and to help each other with accountability. We would love to have you join us!

I finally got my points updated for the last week of May and made my goals. Yay. The last week was insanely busy. On the 28th, we had 30 people for a work day/BBQ. The week leading up was nonstop prep, cleaning, baking, etc. I did pretty well but then overdid it the day after and got pretty sore and stove up. Coming out of it though.

I added a few more goals to June. Probably the most important is getting enough water!! I'm pretty bad about that.

Vannie, I looked up Elisha Celeste and subscribed to her channel. There are quite a few titles I definitely want to check out. Upright Health has been great...every time Matt posts a new video, I think this guy must be reading my mind!

Helen, what kind of dog(s) do you have. We have a catahoula/labrador mix, an Australian shepherd and a Australian cattle dog(heeler) mix.

I can't believe it's June already. I've been busy with house stuff the last two days and haven't gotten in a workout since PT on Sunday. I need to do that again tonight and some rolling for some muscles that are surprisingly tight for some reason.

Katie, I laughed at your comment about Matt! I watched today's video and one of the comments said I feel like this guy is in the bushes with a notebook, how does he know exactly what I'm needing?! Elisha's videos made me happy I never gave away my basketball and now I also want a softball.

There were too many days in May that I didn't check off my spreadsheet so I don't know how many points I had. Aiming to do better this month. I also cut my number of goals in half.

Vannie, I went back and looked at that video again and saw that comment along with another similar. Matt really seems to be on a roll! I still haven't had a chance to look over Elisha's channel and MT, I checked out Jessica Valant and subscribed to her channel. It looks good!

Weather has been fantastic! Time to get out and enjoy the day.

I haven't worked out since Thursday, partly bc of preoccupation with the findings at my podiatrist appt I had Friday. I went in for lateral foot pain that I suspected was peroneal brevis tendonitis but since it has been going on since last summer I figured I should get it looked at. The pain has always been mild and intermittent, never stopping me from doing anything, but the duration pushed me to have it checked. I was correct in my self diagnosis of the tendonitis so that was good. X-rays showed no indication of current or past stress fracture. What they did show, however, is elevated first metatarsals. I apparently have degeneration in both big toe joints and he said that is caused by the shape and location of my metatarsals. His recommendation and dire prediction were to have surgery on both feet while I still have good bones and am young(ish) and healthy or else they will degrade to the point of arthritis and eventual fusion or replacement. Okay so he freaked me out, hit all the right alarm buttons and words so I was super super stressed all wknd worrying about this. But I checked back in my medical records and when my left toe joint was first X-rayed in 2009, there was apparently no concern with bone density or structure, which leads me to believe my lifestyle and choices caused a shift in my foot structure and it's not smthg I was born with. If that really is the case then surely PT can help me reposition things back to a normal foot. Anyway, I'm working on getting a second opinion but at this point I am thinking no surgeries. I have pretty successfully managed hip impingements and torn hip labrum for over a decade with help from PT and my chiropractor, so I feel with the right guidance I can at least try to fix this problem myself. If that doesn't work then I can consider surgery. But hate the idea of being cut into and once surgery is done there's no going back!

My energy level is still low (blame stress, allergens in the air, laziness, staying up too late, all of the above probably?) so yesterday all I managed to do was PT and again dozed off in the last stretch. Thankfully I anticipated it and had set an alarm so I only slept 15 minutes.

Sherry, how are the meds working? Has your mouth pain decreased?

MT, so sorry the ear problems haven't resolved yet. I hope the procedure will take care of it!

Katie, I keep adding more YouTube channels to my subscription list! I need to go through it and unsubscribe to some. I often find a channel that I want to revisit so I subscribe in order to not forget what the channel was and then still never remember to go back and look at it! I do the same thing with podcasts on Spotify.
