What exactly is cardio coach?

I have heard a lot of people here talk about how much they love cardio coach. What exactly is it? Is it something you download on your ipod? Is it music or does something show up on your ipod screen or am I totally confused about it? Maybe someone talks and tells you to walk/run faster etc.,,,Anyway, as you can see, I have no idea what it is all about but am interested in learing more and perhaps trying it if it is something I can put on my ipod. Any clarification is appreciated. Thanks!
P.S. If I want to try it and am an intermediate to advanced exerciser, which would be the best? I like a challenge when I work out

Hi,

I am a recent CC convert. You can either get the MP3 download to your computer or purchase the CD. Coach Sean is the best motivator I have ever had. He encourages you but doesnt talk too much either. CC is a interval training audio that is suppose to be used on a treadmil but a lot of people use it when they cycle or like me on the rebounder and even some use it to walk/run to outdoors. You do sprints and hills with steady state in between. I have all C/C from 2-8 but havent done 7 or 8 yet. I think C/C 4 would be a good one to start with. I did Volume 6 the other day and it was intense I am sure 7 and 8 will be too. HTH

Amazing experience

To die for audio-guided interval workout suitable for all cardio machines.
Like Chris wrote, you can use it for outdoor running or walking also ( I haven't used it for walking). V8 requires that you are on a hilly route. I have been able to adapt all the other volumes to flat roads for outdoor running.
Yes, you can download to ipod.

You can click on each workout and read the description. For eg.
for V8, click here

http://www.cardiocoach.com/miva/merc...tore_Code=CCPS

and then click on the "full description"

Music is like a dramatic movie score with Coach Sean giving you precise countdowns and instructions for changing speed/incline/resistance etc.

You can download from here

www.cardiocoach.com

If you like hills, V8 is the one you will want.

The store front is here
http://www.cardiocoach.com/miva/merc...egory_Code=PRO

Note the specials. All the higher number volumes are challenging and V8 is the toughest beast. You can read Vrinda's review at the home page.

Please post if you have more questions. But all the answers are available if you poke around that website.

I love CC!

I gave my ipod to my son and forgot I had a shuffle. Anyway, I used the mp3 download and burned my own cd's for my stereo. It's a good idea to burn them onto CD-R's for back-up files.

What is so great about CC, is that the intensity levels are for anyone. All you need to do is find your "perceived exertion"

You will always grow with this approach. I'm pretty new to CC, but I've already noticed my settings on my elliptical going up to get me into the work zones Coach Sean ask for.

It's a wonderful program!

I'll just add that people also use CC with the elliptical, too. Basically any cardio machine or run / walk / jog / bike path works.

There are no visuals. It's audio only.

Sean coaches you throughout the workout as music plays in the background. He tells you what to do (e.g. sprint), where you should be working, and offers encouragement.

I'm new to CC myself. Since I don't regularly run / use cardio machines (I've been using an elliptical), I've started with the first volumes, which are shorter. CC vol. 1 (revised) has a good introduction to how Sean sets up the routines, with an explanation of the different zones.

I use CC with my elliptical and I can't even imagine trying to use cardio machines of any kind without Sean's coaching. He has taken me to new levels in my fitness -- he really pushes you but in a manner that's motivating, inspiring, and just plain fun.

ETA that, after reading a poll, I feel I should state that I received pre-release versions of Pump and Vol. 8 and was asked to provide feedback, which I was more than happy to do. I believed in the workouts enough that I bought the CD-r of #8 after release because I didn't want the freebie to cast a shadow over my genuine LOVE for this workout!! CC workouts thrill me and I am happy to pay full price.

Each of the CD versions, too, has a graph explaining the different zones. I would bet that information is also available on the cardio coach website.

Also, the audio workouts, whether in CD or mp3 form, are divided into chapters that correspond to, say, songs on an album. Some are challenges, some are steady-states or recovery periods, some are warm-up and cool-downs. And some VFers like to mix-and-match these things to make fresh new workouts out of material they already own.

I've known folks to use cardio coach for yoga, too -- just to experience cardio coach but while doing the exercise they prefer. In other words, the workouts are really versatile!
