earphones for my mp3

I have an ipod.. the earbuds hurt.

I found some fabulous ones at the airport recently... I cant remember what they were called, anyone have any idea?
noise reduction something or other.. and I cant remember who made them.
the prices ranged form $200-$400...
Too expensive but they felt good and sounded great.

Does anyone have a suggestion for any kind of earphone that is comfortable and has good sound?

Thank you.

I saw Bose have one:

Just a note -- I don't think you want this for outdoor exercise since you'll be 'out of tune' of your surrounding. I think it's too dangerous not being able to hear people following you, dogs barking or cars around you.

Good reviews

This web site has unbiased reviews, and I've found it very helpful in the past.

I got these Koss ones from best buy that are the best headphones I have ever owned. They are the same material as ear plugs and you squash them into your ears. The sound is amazing and they stay in your ears no matter what you are doing, and you can wear them comfortably in bed. The downside is that you can hardly hear anything else when you have them on.

But when my dog chewed them up last week I went to Best Buy later that day to pick up another pair- they are that great.

Gosh, what a timely thread for me. I just joined my local Y and used the cardio equipment for the first time today. The surrounding noise was too much for me to hear my mp3 music and so I'm looking for a new headphone. Tried on my Sennheiser headphone when I got back home today but that doesn't block out surrounding noise. I was doing a search here at VF and came up with this thread begun earlier today.

All of the earbuds I tried hurt my ears. I did some research and bought the Sony MDR-EX71SL/WK Fontopia Bud-Style Headphones and haven't had a problem since.

Which model do you have? I was thinking of buying MX-500.

I just can't tolerate earbud headphones. I have an older version of these, which sound good and stay on even though I am a glasses wearer.
