what other workouts do you do? do you own a reformer?

i bought the workouts without the chair. i've been watching craigslist from time to time and have seen a few listings but have never pulled the trigger.
Jeannine, I too bought the workouts with no chair! I found one at the thrift store for about $30 but I couldn't tell if it was in good shape or not since I've never seen any IRL but that one. It seemed like it was missing smthg.

disclaimer: i don't own either the malibu or pilates pro, however, the tall sculpting handles are attached to the pilates pro. i'm not sure if you can install the sculpting handles (which can be purchased separately) to a malibu chair. pilates pro came out several years after malibu.

i think the rest of the features appear to be similar.

malibu came with its own set of DVDs, and pilates pro has its own set. Pilates pro DVDs are led solo by Jennifer Galardi, even though Susan Lucci appears as a spokesman in the ads.

it's good to study the photos and youtube videos to see what is included.

the springs are replaceable - wondering how long they last.

i have the malibu pilates dvds and the pilates pro chair dvd and i do them all. when i first started to heal my back i could only do the pilates chair.

since than i've added in my pilates reformer, the total gym, and traditional weight training.

aside from the pilates chair dvds, i have a monthly subscription to John Garrey TV which has tons of pilates (chair, reformer, tower, mat). John Garrey has some youtube videos.

Rosalie Brown (the total gym lady) has some pilates chair videos on her youtube channel - i like these two

the Malibu Pilates Chair is good too. the only concern would be if the pilates tall arms would fit that chair. i love having the arms because i needed them in the beginning while rehabbing my back - they helped me with balance while doing standing exercises on and off the chair.

there's a Pilates Pro Chair Group on Facebook and many of them own the Malibu Pilates Chair and the Pilates Pro Chair and someone there would be able to tell you if the arms for the Pilates Pro Chair would fit the Malibu Pilates Chair. (both chairs were made by the same company)

a bunch of us own 2 chairs (some have a mix of Malibu and Pilates Pro) i own 2 Pilates Pro Chairs. since they are so inexpensive people pick up another for convenience sake.

It is expensive. However, there are a lot of used ones on FB Marketplace for $20 shipping, ranging from $50 to $100, with the six dvds. Although some people are asking for $50 shipping! I found one local to me for $40. It didn’t look like any of them had the tall handles on the side. I guess you buy that separately?

if you can get one used i highly recommend it.

it's a nice chair and it will really help your back, knees, core but it isn't worth a $300+ price tag.

i bought both of mine used - one for $80 because it had the tall arms and the other for $30 since it didn't have the arms.
