Question Gaiam Detox Flow Yoga~ Seane Corn

I tried to use the "search feature" to look for reviews in the forum for this DVD... But, VF appears to be irritated with me today.

This one isn't listed on the reviews page either.

Does anyone use this DVD? Like it? Hate it?

thanks!!

I have it, haven't used it for a long time. There are two practices and both are nice enough from what I remember. I liked them. IIRC one is shorter with lots of twists, the other is a longer & more challenging flow practice.

I have it, and I love it! I don't really do it for the "detox" aspect but I like the twists and it isn't too challenging on my wrists or knees. I always feel great after! There's a 35 min shorter workout and a 60 min workout -- nice scenery, and my core always feel like it got wrung out after this one!

I have this one and really like it. The long practice is too strenuous for my current (not very good) fitness level, but I love the shorter practice. What I like about like practice is that there is detailed instruction and a nice (Iyengar-ish) focus on alignment. And the pace is controlled enough that you actually can maintain proper alignment. I don't find that true for me for a lot of vinyasa/power yoga. What people might not like is that Seane Corn has a slightly stern and monotone delivery. At the beginning and end of the practices she talks about health/detox etc. and it gets a bit preachy. Also, she has SO much she's trying to say that she gets a bit motormouth-y. But for the majority of the practice all of the instruction is strictly yoga related. So - not for everyone, but I really like it.

This. I like the actual physical practice but found myself tensing up with the stern delivery and all the talk of toxins/pollution etc. I don't pull it out as much as I would due to the less than soothing vibe. But still worth an entry now and then when I'm up to a little abrasion.

Used to eat all that stuff up, when I had been in the throes of ritualized, commercial live yoga classes 20 times a year in a "spiritual" venue. Some of the delivery from Seane Corn is elitist and self-righteous (I refer mostly to Seane Corn's Yoga from the Heart here, and another one ..), but I suck it up.

I am not her intended audience.

Bear that in mind, then you can do anything she puts out

I did the twisty workout this morning and liked it ok but, like many, found the lecturing to be irritating. I don't think that *what* she was saying was really an issue (if... say... Sara Ivanhoe was saying the same thing it wouldn't have bugged me!) but the delivery felt patronizing.

I also found it hard to sort out the instruction from the lecture. I guess I was sort of tuning her out and then went "oh crap, change position" a few too many times...

So, in all, it was worth the ~$6 I spent at amazon (free shipping too!) but I doubt I'll use it much.

Thanks so much for everyone's input!
