I too just joined Facebook then found this thread. So I'm the Alison who just requested to join the group.

Facebook is not terribly user-friendlly or intuitive, but it works once you figure it out! I keep in touch with quite a few people via facebook. Just this morning I got friended by a couple of VFers, which was fun.

Karen, I've had some random friend requests, too, which I've refused. When someone attempts to add you as a friend, you can see their profile (well, whatever they allow to be seen), so that helps eliminate random folks you don't know. (One time I was looking at a guy's friends, all of whom wore a certain type of headdress, so if I had any doubts before that we hadn't crossed paths that eliminated it...)

Kyra, any picture of someone active is a pretty big tip-off he/she is a genuine VFer.

I'm personally addicted to some of the games over there: Scramble, Pathwords, GeoChallenge, Who Has the Biggest Brain, etc. Most especially PACK RAT!

And, this may sound ridiculous, but I have some of the FUNNIEST back-and-forths with my 17 year old on her wall!

I was late to the social networking thing, only opened a Facebook account a couple months ago on my 45th birthday. And I didn't really get it at first, what one was supposed to actually do.

Now I have about 40 friends and I'm forever chatting with people, playing word games, etc.

I joined FB a few months ago when Coach Sean invited me. I joined the VF group right after that. It is addicting and fun to find old friends. We've reconnected with some friends from London. It's fun to play the games too. I'm so addicted to Scramblewords and Word Challenge. Twist is pretty fun too. I'm still learning my way around there but it's getting easier. I even have a few VFers as friends. Hey Michelle and Suzanne. But like Karen, I would not add anyone I didn't recognize.
