I wonder if there is a stage where someone shows up as a registered new "member" but they're not actually activated with full member privileges yet. I wonder this because none of the "new member" bots have profiles or show up on the actual VF member list here (which you can sort by join date, oldest to newest) :

It seems there are new "members" (no profiles and not on the member list), registered users (also not on the member list but you can click on their username and pull up their stats), and actual full-fledged members on the official member list. Just what I've noticed.
