I broke my ankle in the summer of 2019. Xrays showed a clean break so I was put into a boot and given crutches. I was very unsteady on crutches and wound up falling twice on the sidewalk, which shattered my ankle.

So had surgery with the plate and screws inserted. Six months of PT then could walk three miles a day and do resistance workouts normally. But I could feel those screws all the time. Covid hit and since there was nothing else to do, I asked my surgeon to remove the metal four months ago. Easy surgery and I didn't need PT afterward, since I pretty much knew what to do already. Fortunately it was my left leg so I never had a problem driving.

The only negative after affects are my balance is off -- thinking of seeing an ear specialist to see if it has to do with my tinnitus; don't have equal range of motion with that ankle; hideous scar and odd bruise pattern that looks like melasma. I've been using ScarAway silicone sheets to fade the scar but it takes a few months supposedly.
