need suggestions for good beginner yoga dvd

I am interested in learning about yoga. Would like suggestions on a good beginner yoga dvd, one that would allow me to learn the different poses, etc.
Thanks.

margaux, when I was first learning, I used Patricia Walden's Yoga for Beginners. It's not a flowing practice; it specifically teaches postures and alignment. For me, it was the perfect place to start, but others have complained that it's "dry," "boring," or even too difficult (I never understood this last one since she shows modifications throughout). It is older, though; it was originally on VHS.

I'll have to think more if you are looking for something more modern, but you might try a tag search.

Thanks for your input. Now that I am 65 yrs old I have found that cardio is no longer my best friend. I will still do more modified cardio but I now need to explore what yoga may offer me.

Lately I've been using this one a good bit, but I do find that some of the poses aren't all that easy. (Quarter Dog pose? Had never heard of it til she was leading me into it; wouldn't have attempted it if I'd realized where it was leading, my belly didn't like it much, but then I do have issues there.)

I mention it because it seems as though it's beginner-ish, but parts of it really aren't. (I still feel resentful about those yoga dvds I bought years ago before I learned to seek out video clips online.)

This Jane Adams one looks intriguing, though:

My all-time favorite yoga dvd is Erich Schiffmann's Backyard Beginner. It is an good instructional, and just makes my body feel so good everytime I do it. He is also the instructor on an older DVD, Ali MacGraw Yoga Mind, and Body, with higher production values that many people enjoy.

I really like Barbara Benagh's YfSR linked above too.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I went to a yoga class the other day (second visit) and although I did not know how to do the poses and my legs were shaking trying to hold poses, I can't believe how good I feel mentally since. This instructor was so good and made all the difference. I think my body is saying thank you...lol

That's a great one! I let my friend borrow a few yoga DVDs and that was her favorite hands down! It looks like Udaya has re-released it (you couldn't find the original one there for a while). I even love it for a nice, relaxing practice. Good stretches and I get sore from it, too.

My first yoga DVD was Rodney Yee's AM Yoga for Your Week. It has 5-20 minute short yoga workouts with basic moves. It may be classified beginner intermediate, but I found it to be a great DVD to start with.
