Happy Friday!

I am slammed at work right now and was not able to get in a workout on Wednesday from no fault of my own, it was nearly too busy to even find bathroom breaks On the plus side I got a bonus workout in on Monday from doing yardwork so I didn't stress too much.

So, yesterday and today I opted for quicker workouts but made sure I could get them in.

Yesterday I did ACE HIIT total body again, this one is a perfect tough 30 minute start to finish workout. I'm glad I pulled this set out again because they are perfect for short days.

Today I did Firm Volume 6 but I was so anxious about time I skipped the beginning stretch (I usually skip this anyway, I'm not a big fan of long stretches at the start of the workout) and the final chest fly/bridge segment to shorten it to about 40 minutes. I love this workout! It was my compromise of strength/cardio plus active recovery Friday (not too hard) plus shorter to fit in. I used slightly lighter weights than I usually would because I still plan to hit it hard with a full length Cathe strength tomorrow.

Eventmom and Buzzer Lucy is definitely looking better but she still has the ulcer, ugh. I took her cone off yesterday for a bath and the first thing she did was rub her eye repeatedly, so it must still be bothering her. I still have a week and a half before her follow up so we'll see what the specialist says. Lucy and I are both getting tired of her being in a cone and bothering with her eyes (to clean and medicate them) 3x daily. Not to mention keeping her away from the other dogs although I've relaxed that during the day under supervision. I've yelled at the puppy enough times that they aren't roughhousing anymore, which is sad but necessary for now!

Buzzer That makes both of us giving up on CLX. It seemed like a good idea at the time, LOL!!

It's surprising and disappointing that VF'ers haven't been more gracious in receiving your free workouts!! I remember someone gifted me many of the WHFN workouts years ago, and I thanked her profusely. That was so generous!!! I don't know if I followed up with her about actually using them, but I've posted tons of times over the years about the workouts on GD.

It sounds like your Firm workouts are getting easier, your strength and stamina are improving! Great job!! I've been so busy at work and also it's the end of the month so I've been really strict with my eating the last week or so (chasing that last day of month weight LOL), and "surprise" I feel much better and the scale is going down. In fact I hit a low weight today I haven't in a few months. I was surprised about that! Hopefully that trend continues. I definitely feel like I have a better hand on things. Work is extremely stressful but if I'm busy all day, I'm not bored and eating junk food all day. And by the end of the day I'm too tired and call it quits. I tend to weigh less during my extremely busy time of year (this time through October or early November) because I'm just not eating out of boredom or have enough time to think about cravings.

I agree about the little boy playing with LB. It's no fun to play a game you're not interested in, and probably can't physically win. That would be discouraging for sure!

1/2 of super cardio mix... done!

It was a struggle. I felt a bit overtrained from yesterday, so yesterday I either was not hungry or completely eating everything. I just couldn't help myself! We went out to breakfast, and then I didn't eat until dinner. I wasn't hungry for dinner, but ended up taking a second bratwurst thinking I would just take a bite, but I just couldn't help myself and ended up eating all of it!! we don't do bread (much) so it was a brat without a bun, but still. I just HAD to.

So with that in mind, I started the leg split to do the lower body today. As I was warming up, my abs hurt and my arms were aching. So I decided I wouldn't be able to give the legs my all, so I put in "Super Cardio Mix" since I got a backup copy at goodwill recently so I was going to do it as a reminder of what it is! I have this workout memorized too. I forgot how tough it is!

So anyhow, I started and was all spunky, just feeling my muscles, and as the workout wore on, I found I was taking things lower, not doing all the plyos, not doing the lunges and squats fully... just cheating. Then on one of the "grab weights" segments, I grabbed 5's and instantly regretted it. however I kept going with them, and after that I just petered out. So about 30 minutes into it, I ended. I was hot, it's very humid outside (and in the room), even with the fan on. I was sweating buckets, and you know that overtrained feeling? I just had it. I decided I was probably doing more harm than good so I ended it.

I will try to do the legs tomorrow, however I think I just needed a rest today. I beat myself up over it, but now I have to just realize I can't keep going like I did earlier in life. When my body says "you overdid it! Stop!" I need to stop.

So today is supposed to be rainy, however it was a nice enough morning that I could sit outside!! I love it. We sat outside yesterday watching the sky light up with lightning, and the thunder that never stops. Just always a light flashing or thunder rolling. I haven't seen or heard that in a long time, so LB sat in my lap snuggled with her blanket and stuffies, and we watched until the rain started.

Eventmom: I'm glad your DD and BF were there to help. Getting home and unloading/unpacking is the worst part of traveling. I can't imagine doing that with horses!!

The fountain got moved to the back deck where I sit. Now I can hear it. since it's solar, I forgot about it, then at 6am it turned on and scared me! HA! I love it though!

Ebianco: I'm glad Lucy is doing better. Poor little doggie! I bet she's happy to be playing with the other doggies though. It was hard keeping Eugene and Otis from wrestling, I can't imagine how hard it would be with five!

Sorry work is so crazy! You get this great vacation, then come back to total stress. That stinks. Nothing like undoing all the good vacation did!! I used to skip the stretches too. I skipped both the beginning and the end for a while. Now I look forward to them. It does shorten the workout though. I remember being all calm, doing the workout, then when the stretches hit I would turn off the VCR or DVD and move into high gear putting things away and getting ready for work. I was like a switch skipping the cool down!

My firms have been getting easier though. I am so grateful for that! No change in how my clothes fit, but at least the workouts are getting easier. That's something!

Hi all!

It's finally the weekend! Today I did Cathe Muscle Endurance from the Bootcamp DVD. The last time I did this one in April, and the time before that around January, my notes were that this one was soooo hard even with light weights. I mean it was so hard I nearly developed a dread factor. Well, today I matched or even exceeded Cathe's weights (that never happens ) on most exercises, and yes it was really tough but I powered through it! The weight training over the last few months, my wrist healing, and probably my cleaner eating and missing a workout day on Wednesday definitely pulled through for me today. I think I'll continue to do this one every three months or so to gauge my fitness level.

I'm also really upbeat that my last day of the month weight was really awesome. And that was after I had some late night popcorn and a tiny cupcake at the outdoor movie event I went to yesterday. I was able to match the weight I was back in February before I gained a couple of pounds suddenly. I still have a couple pounds to go from last summer but I am so happy with where I am at right now.

Tomorrow will be a barre not sure if Pure Barre or Barlates yet.

Eventmom waves!

Buzzer Yeah don't beat yourself up about having a rest day! So awesome that the Firm workouts are getting easier for you!

Haha it isn't much tougher keeping mine from wrestling than yours, because really only Lucy and Sundae wrestle. The others all stay out of it!

Work is definitely stressful but at least in a way it's good stress. I'm doing something new and different and it's temporary at four months, and I'll probably miss by the end! I have so much leave left too I need to spend this year so I'll be taking lots of vacation days in November and December, so may as well embrace the sprint now before the slow days around the holidays!

Well I skip the stretches at the beginning of the workout, unless they are built into the warm up like for instance Firm Fat Blaster or what Cathe does, then it's okay. But usually at the end I stretch for longer than they do and usually go beyond when the DVD has gone through ending credits and back to the main menu!

Firm Lower body split.. DONE!

Wow. Lots of legs!! An hour long workout, and about 45 minutes of legs. My legs were tired of lunging and dipping! Not as many step ups, but lots of lunges and dips and squats. My legs were so tired I was so happy to see the abs section. That happiness was short lived, as there were 3 ab sections and I was spent by the end!! I forgot about the tiredness in my legs though because my abs were so tired!! HA!

Last night I slept so well. yesterday I was so drained. I don't know if it was the workout, or just because there is usually a day every 2 weeks or so that I just crash. I was so tired though! I was cranky and just didn't want to even get up. My body ached! I wondered if I was getting sick, then I thought it could be because of my workout the day before. Either way, I was tired and sore. Lastnight I slept 7 hours! Which is amazing for me. So today I feel better. I used my 12's as my heavy weight, and my 3 pound ankle weights. Tough but doable! I went through and was trying to organize some of my Firm splits... I have upper 1. Lower 1 and lower 2 (from BSS?) I couldn't find an upper 1. However, I think it's the other half of the standing legs DVD (maybe?) so I need to investigate the 1 and 2 splits and make sure I have them all! Wouldn't that be exciting if I didn't? New Firms!! I would love that. But then I'd also be disappointed I didn't have them all to begin with! HA!

All the similar titles and adding "1" or "2" or whatever. Core cardio 1. Core cardio 2. Tough Aerobics. Not so Tough Aerobics. Tough Aerobics mix. I get so confused!

Today was supposed to be rainy and it isn't. Yesterday was supposed to be rainy and it wasn't. Cooler days, but not rainy! It's been so nice. We still sit outside and enjoy the day!

Ebianco: I don't know how you keep everything straight. Firms and Cathe's! I've been Firming since 1991 and I don't know all of them. Mostly I kinda know the volumes, and that's it. HA! I am not that observant I think.

congratulations on the weight loss! Even with popcorn and a mini cupcake! That's awesome! I am proud of your weight loss! It's tougher than you would think it is!

Eventmom: I hope you are doing well at home, settling back in, and getting ready for the new year!!

I don't know what we are up to today... I don't have anything scheduled. I'm sure our day will be filled for sure though. LB starts another VBS tomorrow... this one is only 3 days for 3 hours a day, so much quicker. I plan to just go to thrift stores, read by the lake, and go find spring sales!! I love when they put spring stuff on sale. I love the colors and the decor, I would rather buy it on sale though!

Hi all! Today I felt a little tired maybe from the Cathe Muscle Endurance yesterday? So I didn't run on the treadmill today, I walked but I did walk energetically on an incline, then Pure Barre Results Arms warm up through seat, then Callanetics for a 70 minute workout.

Tomorrow and Tuesday are planned rest days yeah!

Eventmom waves!

Buzzer Firm Lower Body Split is such a toughie. I like how this one is structured better than Upper Body Split with all the abs layered at the end. Still, three sets of abs is a lot of abs! I love it when I discover new Firms that I don't have too Particularly BSS Firms, I think I have all the Anna Benson era Firms except a couple that are OOP. I am aware that I'm missing lots of Pink Firms that I'm not sure I would like anyway.

It's funny because I can pretty much keep all the Benson era Firms in order by the titles, but the BSS series completely bewilders me. I don't think I could name more than a couple and would definitely not be able to place which one is in which BSS series! They are all a combination "super" "blaster" "cardio" and "sculpt" LOL

Two laps around the lake (2.8 miles).. DONE!
Upper body, the one that is the other half of "Standing legs"... DONE!

I had cardio day yesterday, it was going to be hot, I had to drop off LB in town, so I went to the lake (which is about 7 minutes away from VBS) and did two fast laps. I speed walked them, trying to get the energy from my hips moving, my abs tight and my torso rather than the energy and movement from my shins and calves. It was great! I don't get nearly as out of breath, but I get a GREAT workout in. I held in the ttapp way the best I could!

this morning I did the upper body that is on the "standing legs" DVD. It was really good! It's all Volume 1, 2 and 3. For some reason, I decided to try to go to 15's as my heavy weight. That was a mistake! The first time I did overheads to lateral delts to biceps, I dropped to 12's again. I am feeling my biceps though! I still used 15's on my lat rows. That was a tough workout! It was only 40 minutes, but the amount of pushups and over head presses was insane!

I was planning on doing standing legs tomorrow, but we will see if my upper body can take holding onto the weights!

I felt so buff and in shape and skinny after the workout, but while I was out and about I caught a look at myself in the mirror and was so sad. I still look like a fat old lady! My arms are large (they always have been but they've gotten bigger... lots of times I can fit in a smaller shirt but the arms are too tight so I have to go up a size) and my tummy still sticks out. It's depressing. But I felt good!

My upper body sure is feeling todays workout though. So tomorrow I might go walk around the lake again, or do a cardio. Depends on when I wake up.

Thursday is CONCRETE POURING DAY!! I am excited. I am a little apprehensive since DH got a watery-er mix of concrete this time, so I am afraid of blow outs. However, I am so happy this will be our final pour of concrete for the walls! Then we have trusses, and hopefully roof before it snows. Ugh. I hope we get the roof on.

Then plumbing and electrical and doors and windows and garage doors and garage floor... it's still gonna be a while. But at least we are doing final concrete pour for the walls!

I am hopeful we can start using it this time next year!!

Today was busy... LB did VBS, I got some potting soil (cheap!) and stuff we needed at Walmart, then I got her, ate lunch, and we headed to a friends. Then she did karate. We got home about 6, it's now 7:30 and just finished dinner! It doesn't sound like much, but it took our whole day!

Ebianco: Lower body split was so hard!! I loved it though. The abs at the end sure had my abs sore yesterday though! I really noticed them on my walk. I was so pooped yesterday... probably from the workouts and the walk, that I took an hour and a half nap yesterday! LB just let me sleep too. HA! I love that you plan in rest days. I just take them whenever I am too pooped to workout! Or I take easy days. I envy that you can plan them in and still go back to working out!!

Eventmom: You and your DH are falling apart! HA! I'm glad it's cooling off for you guys too. Our day today was hot (about mid 80's in town) but this evening is so perfect. Kinda cool but not so cool we need to wear long sleeves even. Just so pleasant and quiet!

yesterday - 30 min essentrics stretch +10 min of ravi & ana

buzzer - dh has noticed some (small) improvement from the injection. He can stand a little longer without pain. not sure about mine, it may take some time for my brain to calm down. can't ride for about 10 more days. I have sort of decided not to look in the mirror - just focus on how my clothes feel.

concrete pour.. shoveling and carrying in buckets... DONE!

So we had our pour yesterday. I took Thursday as a rest day, and figured if concrete went well I would have two rest days. If it didn't, I would have one and a crappy workout day. Guess what happened? One and a crappy workout!!

DH talked to a guy who has worked with faswall before, and he said to cover the window wells, reinforce every crack and seam. So we went to dinner (our anniversary was on the 4th), then spent until 11pm foaming cracks and DH was cutting boards. We went to bed (waaaaaaay past my bedtime) and at 6:30am, we were back out foaming and cutting and nailing and screwing on boards. I dropped LB off at 10 at her friends house, picked up some nails at Home Depot, and went home to scrape off the foam that was dry (the excess, it goes in the crack then expands so the stuff that expanded out too far has to be cut off in case we had to put a board up if it blew out) so I cut off about 1,000 foam overages. Then came the concrete trucks.

We right off the bat had concrete come up under a window, so we had to quick nail that down. Then the concrete that came out had to be shoveled and hauled away. Then, right after that clean up, we had a big major blowout between the garage doors. A block started to blow out, and I couldn't stop it. By the time I was going to grab a board, the whole thing exploded and like 4 blocks opened up. I stood there looking at it with my little board and couldn't do a thing. The guys there got it kinda patched, so I was shoveling concrete and dumping it in the yard, when their patch broke and concrete was everywhere.

So I shoveled and carried again. Then, after the third and fourth time, I just wanted to cry. They eventually gave up the patches and me and some of the other guys were able to shovel and haul concrete until we were about dead. That stuff is HEAVY. So heavy. My hands hurt.

I shoveled, hauled, and about died. Seriously. I was so exhausted.

I had to get LB and get her up to my sisters, and luckily my sister agreed to meet me a little closer to home. So I got LB late, covered in concrete. I drove her to meet my sister. I was so exhausted, sunburnt, my feet were sweating in rubber boots, I was covered head to toe, and I just didn't care. I had a task and was focused on getting it done. I got LB to my sister, got DH and I chick fil a, and we were in bed by 8:50pm. We were so tired! Today I am a little sore, mostly tired. I will not be working out today!! I do have hand therapy, and am prepared for them to tell me I shouldn't have done all that. But I didn't really have a choice. So there's that.

Eventmom: I have been slacking on the drinking water, but your post in the Pahla B thread made me think I need to do that again! I feel better when I drink enough. I just haven't been thinking of it again.

I hope your injection works too!! I'm glad for your DH though. You both need some magic for sure!!

Ebianco: I was looking at my Cathe workouts and thinking of you. I used to like adding in some hers. I wonder if I should do that, but then I am loving my Firm right now.

30 min up to the beat walking workout

buzzer - I shocked that drinking enough water seems to have made a difference in weight loss. Like you, I can't seem track calories but I've tracked them enough to get a better sense of where I'm at each day. I did have to up my calories (to a level with high activity) to keep from being hungry all the time. I don't do her workouts, they drive me crazy. Your concrete pour sounds like a nightmare so sorry that there were so many troubles but that's a major step done! You deserve a recover day!
