What is the difference using regular tall crutches vs. those smaller forearm type crutches beyond just weight? Most important to me is which would be steadier and easier to control especially on outside steps.

Having broken both a heel and a femur, I spent a lot of time on crutches, circa 1999, and 2002. Unfortunately, my memory on how to use them has faded. The only tip I can give is be very wary of wet floors since mine slipped far too easily.

The only other tip is do way more PT than you have to. Progress is measured in millimeters. Too many people stop before full functionality is restored.

Good luck. PT sucks.

After receiving reassurance from my insurance company that I'd get reimbursed, I shelled out the money for this. Fingers crossed it works for me so I am no longer a prisoner at home for the next few weeks.
