National Fitness Hall of Fame

I was just looking at the list of Inductees into the National Fitness Hall of Fame. I noticed Denise Austin was never Inducted when everyone else during her time period was inducted. Why do you think she was not included? She sold more Dvds than most of those inducted; had two TVS shows (3 if you include her time as cohost with Jack LaLanne); and was on the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. Gilad, Kathy Smith, Richard Simmons, Jane Fonda, Callan Pinckney, Anna Benson, Leslie Sansone, Cathe Friedrich, Tamilee Webb, Donna Richardson, Gin Miller, and Keli Roberts are some of her contemporaries that got inducted. I wonder if the voting is peer voting or "fan" voting. Any thoughts? I was just curious about this!!

The rules state that the person must be 65 or retired to be inducted. Denise is just now about 66.

We could do our own FHOF and put her on it.

Edit: Went back to check. The fine print says the minimum age was raised from 60 to 65 in 2023 so they’ve had plenty of time to snag up Denise. She has slipped through their cracks.

Yes, I think you may be right about her falling through the cracks or they know something (behind the scenes) that we don’t!!

I don't think these rules are accurate, since Cathe was inducted in 2011 and she isn't 65 yet or retired.

yes - doing the math, Kathy Smith was 55 when she was inducted, Tony Little was 50, and Gilad was 53.
