Erica, I hear you. I have some issues going on and can't find a physician who wants to help me. The best I get is "Come back when it is worse..." Gee, thanks for nothing!!!

My family doctor sends me to specialists (she referred me to six so far!) and orders expensive and useless tests. I've only seen two of the specialists - one was great, the other was a complete quack and charged a whopping $400 for a first office visit (she told me to eat bananas for protein - bananas!!??). There's no way I'm seeing six specialists. I need one knowledgeable and thorough doctor to spend some time with me and figure out what's going on. Erica |

Erica, like Diana, I'll be 53 in April. Here's where I am at right now:
I am meeting with my GYN again later this month to discuss med options. I'm not sure if I want to do a medicine since my symptoms are mostly mild, but they are annoying. Erica, like you, I'm usually cold all the time (I HATE air conditioning and definitely wear a sweater all summer!), so it's very strange for me to be getting too hot at night--and sometimes I still get too cold, too! I do know that my doctor previously told me that risks of HRT meds are lower when you take them <60 years old and sooner after menopause. I often rely on my friend and co-worker for menopause info, as she is exactly 2 years older than me and about that far ahead menopause-wise. She was just telling me that although her hot flashes have mainly gone away, they still come on in times of high stress. (We didn't discuss night sweats.) She gets her GYN care through a midwife group, which sounds great. It's very frustrating to have a doctor who minimizes your concerns. I hope you are able to access better help or otherwise find some comfort soon.

Food certainly affects everyone differently. I've had to swap out my winter PJs for my summer ones - this has been helpful on some nights, but other nights I've wound up cold!
