Hello Watulans!
Yikes! Tempus fugit for sure!
I've been doing my version of the Fuel workouts, keeping up with Caroline's calendar. I skipped #8 Posterior Chain since I have found that I have to modify the Fuel Glute work too much to make them worthwhile doing. One day I substituted a Glutes/hamstrings from the Iron series as she moves more slowly. I've also done a couple Kat workouts, one step workout that she called "advanced" but wasn't even close to advanced---a ton of repetition, simple movements, relatively slow tempo. I guess it was a matter of expectation---if I thought it was intermediate, it would have been fine, but I was expecting an advanced workout and that wasn't it. I also did a Chris Dorner kickbox workout in which she jabbered to the no longer live participants. **sigh**. I threw in a couple of Cathe Lives, and some bits and pieces from the old Cross Train Express, including warmups that I used for Caroline. Speaking of which, I wish she would make a new warmup for each of her series. I've pretty much decided that I will make substitutions for her glute/hamstring days, probably with some of the lower body Cathe workouts that I've skipped, that is assuming I finish this rotation. I like, but don't love, most of the workouts. That said, I loved #10! It moved quickly enough that I actually got my heartrate up into the cardio zone, but not so quickly that I was flailing around the weights.
bee, today's Fuel workout (#12 the "antagonist" workout) was the first one she's done in this series that I would consider "push pull" and she did work the biceps. Funny but I used the same amount of weight as Caroline did for the first time EVER. Not sure what that means, but then again, she used much more weight throughout the workout.
Anyway, I haven't changed my mind. She doesn't work biceps enough, even using the "2/3 triceps to 1/2 biceps" theory. Oh, I listened to Part 1 of the podcast---good stuff! I think since I've had to tone down the impact that I'm mostly in Zone 2 during cardio. I'm not sure what difference that is supposed to make.
Chele, good for you for driving! I'm sure it must have been a bit scary. Wow----can't believe that your husband hurt his back! Well, you've come a long way if you can be the "caregiver." I hope he feels better soon! I saw the push up hack you mentioned in GD. Funny but pushups are one of the few things I DON'T normally need to modify---unless there are 500 of 'em.
I am curious as to whether they might work some additional or different muscles than are worked during "regular" pushups.
TweenerW, loved the Charlie Puth video!
horusosiris, the "no social media" commitment seems to be working for you---good deal! The only social media I ever look at is Facebook and fortunately 99.9% of the people who are my "friends" don't mention current events or politics, thank heavens. Most of the "news" that appears on my feed are either from sports teams or rescue or nature sites---i.e. Jeff Corwin.
Kate, you've had your plate full for sure! Wishing the best for your DH, Justin, and YOU! I also think the Caroline's Fuel is intended to be more "metabolic" rather than pure strength building.
FN1, one of my guys has periodic "chacne" on his chin. The vet prescribed something that reminds us of stridex pads that are used to treat human acne pimples and we use those when they occur and it seems to work. I can look and see what the medication is if you are interested. We also give him lysine as he seems to be prone to allergies.
I've got more to say (of course I do), but I'll stop now!
Waves to all!
