I've been doing a lot of reading the last couple of weeks. "The Deadly Dance" MC Beaton (Agatha Raisin). "The Survivors" Jane Harper. "Mercy" David Baldacci (Atlee Pine Book 4). "Life Expectancy" Dean Koontz. The Dean Koontz book was very different from his usual; pretty quirky and the first quarter of the book I found hilarious. It certainly wasn't what I expected, but I found it interesting.

I’m almost finished re-reading Ultra Marathon Man by Dean Karnazes. I bought his new book A Runner’s High which I plan to read next. Ugh, I just saw they reduced the price to $1.99 for the Kindle version on Amazon.

Now I’m interested in Life Expectancy! I may have to order it.

I'm currently reading John Grisham's The Judge's List, which I picked up at a Friends of the Library book sale for $4.

I received a gift card for my local indie bookstore as a Christmas gift, so my TBR pile will soon experience a growth spurt.

And in what could be the best news for 2022, I'll be volunteering at several Friends book sales, which means I'll be among those getting first dibs on the books. See TBR pile growth spurt above.

I've now read 2 of the 3 novellas in the It Must Be Christmas book. Ugh, the second was just as trite and predictable as the other book I read, and the first was silly and disappointing (from author Jennifer Crusie - I loved her book Agnes and the Hitman!).

I am really enjoying the book of short stories I picked up by Maeve Binchy, A Few of the Girls.

Martha, very cool about the book sales - I would love the first dibs!

DD546, I've read that Dean Koontz but don't recall the details. I find that even when his plots are different (and many of them are certainly similar), the rhythm of his writing always feels very familiar.

Pat, you can do it! Remember that everything counts, even a reread.

I still can't believe I'm at 65 of 55 pledged; I thought 55 might be too big a leap! I will likely finish at least 1 more, maybe 2.

If you liked it I highly recommend The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane (another emotional roller coaster) and Flora & Ullyses (this one made me laugh out loud) by same author Kate DiCamillo. I like that she does not shy away from tough subject matter.

Thanks as always, difit!

I exceeded my Goodreads challenge of 55 books by reading 66 this past year. I'm not sure I'll keep up that pace, so I pledged 60 for 2022.

Happy New Year, all!

My exciting New Year's Eve included finishing The Judge's List. The ending was a bit disappointing. Grisham is always hit or miss for me.

Now I'm rereading my favorite Erik Larson book: Isaac's Storm. Larson never disappoints!
