Just a quickie. Yesterday I did an episode of Happy Yoga with Sarah Starr. Also did another load of laundry and cleaned bathrooms. I swear there was more housework but now I can't remember what!

I'm just having one of those days....

I stopped by Target for the Flash Drive and they didn't have any of the 32 GB size, so had to go to Best Buy for that. I'll be working on transferring the photos tonight.

My dishwasher dropped it's top arm onto the bottom layer and it can't be reattached - this happened in last night's load. I was with service people on the phone and online and figured out what I need to order - of course the service people set me up with some sort of monthly fee for help - . I got that cancelled! I did order the part from a parts store nearby, but they didn't have it in stock, so I'll be getting a mailing from Texas next week. No dishwasher right now .

I noticed my car's turn signal was making weird noises this morning and found out the bulb wasn't working - the service center is really busy today, so I made an appointment for next Wednesday.

I'm planning on changing my avatar picture to a blooming Christmas/Thanksgiving cactus, but can't figure out how to shrink it to this forum's rules. Obviously I've done it before but can't remember how...

Oy! What a day! Luckily nothing real serious but it's been keeping me busy!

Vantreesta, good job doing the house projects!

Another busy day here. I went to the YMCA and was doing a strength workout. Dad was walking past me and we noticed each other, so we went on a long walk around the track. I had a lot of things I hadn't told me parents, so we lost track of time as we walked and talked. He was telling me that Mom got a walker and she was doing so much better using it. Before, she had just used the cane and she feels a lot more secure using the walker. I hadn't seen them since Thanksgiving; it has been just too busy. So I followed Dad home and sat and talked to both of them for a while. This afternoon, I took DH to his PT appointment and dropped in on the chiropractor.

The main thing I shared with Mom and Dad is that I have started writing a book on supporting a loved with gluten and/or dairy intolerances and how someone can live with them. Since DH was diagnosed with both in 2008, I figure that I have some experience I can share. I did the blog for a while and it went nowhere. I found that in order for a blog to be successful (a) you need to do it forever and (b) your blog has to be the best of the best so that Google will rank it on the top half of the first page. Most googlers never go beyond the first 3-4 items on a list. Anyway, it just didn't work for me. Now, I'm fooling around with the idea of self-publishing a book and seeing if I can do something successful in that arena. There are a lot of books on living gluten free, some on dairy free, almost nothing on both. And a lot of people diagnosed gluten sensitive are also dairy sensitive. So, we'll see what happens.

Anita - Did you tick someone named Murphy off? I am truly sorry for all the things that went wrong today. What a frustration. I hope that getting your stick together works and that you can get your picture frame working. With the barbecue chicken, I take frozen chicken breasts out of the freezer, put them in the Instant Pot, pour the barbecue sauce on top, seal it, and set it to cook. I love that I don't even have to defrost the chicken breasts. And I could do other flavors (teriyaki, garlic and/or other herbs in broth, etc.), but I've only ever done the BBQ because that's DH's favorite.

Paula - Congrats on getting the Christmas cards done. We haven't even discussed them yet. Oy. Time's getting away. It's good you found something online you can do as long as you want. Do you ever still use DVDs?

Vantreesa - Housework definitely counts as a workout! Good job doing a couple of different things.

Good evening. Workout this morning was Pahla B Body Shaping Day 4 Moderate Weights followed by Tamilee Standing Stretch and a neighborhood walk with DH.

Overcast day here so we did some errands. Went to Lowes garden center for some poinsettas and did a Target run. Not sure how that took up the whole day but it did.

Anita, Getting all those pictures onto one stick should make life easier - once it's done. My ipad doesn't have any ports at all. If you wanted to workout at home could you put a towel (or two) under where you'd be working? Bummer on your dishwasher and the car's turn signal. It's always something isn't it. How do they sign you up for a monthly subscription without your approval? Glad you caught it and got out of it.

Vantreestra, well done getting in a yoga practice. Isn't it funny how something that takes you hours to do seems so piddly when you write it down? Cleaning bathrooms is on one's idea of fun.

Good morning!

Today will be my day to work on transferring photos from multiple sticks to one final stick which will sit in my e-frame. It's cold outside - right now it's 5 F - brrrrrr! I'm kind of relieved I don't have to do Gus walks in this cold! Otherwise just putzing around the house and doing laundry. I'll probably work on Christmas cards also. There was a bit of snow that fell last night but doubt I'll be out shoveling today - tomorrow is supposed to get warmer.

Vantreesta, you're doing a great job downsizing on your Halloween decorations!

Laura, so nice to be able to meet your dad at the Y . Congrats on writing a book! Do you have links to the gluten/dairy-free people in this country that might be easier to contact via a message board and tell them about the coming book? Yeah, Murphy was having an argument with me yesterday . Sounds like the InstaPot can get to good temps for cooking chicken - I doubt my crock pot could do that with raw chicken.

Paula, Nice to get poinsettias for the holiday - I'm staying away from them as I'm limiting the number of pots for my move. I did start an amaryllis bulb that is still at the pushing out of the bulb stage - advertised as multiple blooms, but right now just seeing one coming up... I looked online for answers connecting the spinning rod to the spray unit on the top dish rack. I connected up with a site that advertised a $5 answer with a specialist and took that - of course they sent me a scroll of a contract before answering which I just accepted without reading - my mistake! That scroll told me I was paying $35 per month for this service - uh, no! Luckily i was able to back out of it - I probably got charged for 1 month service, so my total cost was $40 to be told I need to buy a new sprayer with a rod attached... sigh.

Waves to all!

Anita

Today, we just hunkered down inside and didn't do a huge amount of stuff. DH is still in a lot of pain with his ribs. We watched TV and he took a nap while I made a card. I did cook a big pot of what I call "sausage gunk". It's sort of a stew made of sausage, onions, mushrooms, diced tomatoes, and beans, and it's served over rice.

Polly has slept in her cat bed ALL afternoon. She went out this morning some and then it started raining and it has rained off and on all afternoon and into the evening. I figure she'll be out this evening wanting to go outside.

Anita - I hope today was much calmer and less Murphy-ish. I'll need to figure out how to market my book as I write it. It will take me a while. I do already have an idea of where to find people.

Paula - I hope you enjoy the poinsettias. The days just melt away! I'm tellin' ya!

Good evening. Workout this morning was Pahla B Body Shaping Day 5 Core followed by Tamilee Floor Stretch. Also we flew to Catalina today and hiked our favorite loop trail.

Laura, we must have posted at the same time at least I didn't see your post last evening. What a good idea about the book on supporting someone who is gluten free and dairy free. My niece could use it right now, her husband has Crones and is trying to elminate gluten and dairy to see if that helps. Will it have recipes? Your sasuage gunk sounds like something he would like. I love that you see your Dad at the gym, I'm not sure why but that always makes me happy. Also glad your Mom is doing better with the walker. To answer your question on whether I still use exercise DVD's, yes but much less than I used to. I have a few stretch ones I still use regularly. I have a Tamilee Webb Stretch DVD that has four routines on it a long one and three ten minute ones. I use the ten minute ones multiple times a week as they are so easy to add onto a workout. I have a couple Karen Voight longer stretch DVD's I still use regularly. But I also have a ton of exercise videos I'm just not using anymore, I'm not getting rid of them though because who knows I may want to use them again someday. Polly content to hang out and nap all day just doesn't sound like her, she must be sick.

Anita, Wow, 5F is so cold I can hardly imagine it and frankly I'm glad I don't have to. It was in the 60's here today and we thought that was cold. Actually it was perfect hiking weather. I think Insta Pots, being electric pressure cookers, are substantially hotter than Crock Pots. I get a few poinsettias every year for the mantle and dining room table. I've only had one that lived much beyond the end of January. After New Years I move them outside and try to coax them into living but it never works. They are a holiday decoration. Still waiting for my Thanksgiving cactus to bud. It looks lovely and healthy but still no buds. Sorry about the dishwasher contact thing, $40.00 for obvious advice is a rip off for sure.
