I posted this in my check-in:

I bought the Bondi 7s. The 9.5 wide feels more comfortable than the 9s. They are hard to get used to after the Sauconys. And, I rarely have any vanity about shoes but - seriously - they look like I'm wearing clown shoes!

I'm not sure I'd wear them for every day. Just for walks.

I have decided to return both pairs of Hokas. For that hefty price, I need to LOVE them. I don't love them.

I decided to wear them to walk to the store. I made it about 100 yards and I just said, "No." I went back and put on my Sauconys.

Hokas are cushy. They don't squish my toes. But, they just felt too weird.

So, the shoe hunt continues...

I'm sorry I didn't see this post until after you'd had to order and return the Hokas. I thought they were awful -- heavy and so cushioned they felt unstable, especially after my Sauconys.

What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail?

Hazel, you hit the nail on he head! Hoka's style is pretty much the opposite of Saucony's. I felt like my balance was off due to the thick sole and cushioning. As if I were on platform shoes.

I think that is the same reason I didn't like those Skechers Shape Ups.

Vintage, it's the Sketchers Max Cushioning that my husband likes. Also a bit clowny:

Especially in the red!

I bought some Saucony Integrity 3 walkers. They fit OK. I haven't taken them for a test walk outside yet.

Years ago when I was running/jogging almost daily and trying to find comfortable shoes I found a running store that evaluated my stride and advised me because of high arches and supination (underpronation) that I need cushioned shoes. The more cushion the better.

With your orthotics your foot type was probably evaluated. I don't know if this chart might help some. I use running shoes now for walking because I can easily find them with nice cushioning and they feel good. I remember thinking the Bondi 6 I purchased in a white color looked huge but I got used to them.

I have "duck feet"
Got Hokas in my usual sneaker size and my pinky toes are cramped.
