Good morning ladies! TGIF!

Yesterday I had to cover for my dingbat coworkers, then we had the office party, so I had no formal exercise but managed 5,000 steps.

Keep on getting better Summer Breeze, and your DD, too. Sending hugs.

Donna, thank you for sharing that from Jessica's podcast. I really do feel pressured to not appear old, particularly as I intend to keep working for a few more years. I just do the best I can - but like you, I have no intention on torturing myself to fit someone else's thoughts on what we should be. I think men feel the pressure, but they have healthy enough egos to counterbalance it. I do know my DH is very sensitive about balding.

Well have a wonderful Friday! Good morning Beth and anyone who visits.

Pat - i know what you mean about continuing to work and not wanting to appear "old" - I think in general, women become more invisible the older they get and for what it is worth, even in 2022, women - even young women - are still overlooked in the work place. My new job is in the tech department, which is still heavily male dominated, even in 2022, I have a hard time getting men to respond to me. My boss, on the other hand, is a guy and they get back to him right away. It is like I have to be bigger and louder and more in their face than I probably would have to be if I were a guy. Sad, but true. So, I do try to "dress" young and and style myself young - but hopefully without it looking ridiculous either.

I don't think there is anything wrong with wanting to look as good as we can for our age, but keeping it realistic.

I think the way we move - good mobility - makes us look and appear younger than our years.

I'm rambling now - but the way I look at it is there is only one way to anti-age and I'm not ready for that yet.

Waves to Summer breeze and everyone!

Donna, what a great message about body image. I’ve also experienced the way and places my body gains weight post menopause is very different from when I was in my 30s or even 40s. And I like that message that it’s okay, and it’s normal for our bodies to change. I think as women, sometimes we feel the pressure to look a certain way, but maybe we should focus on being our healthiest self. I know it can be super challenging at work when we find ourselves competing with younger women for career advancement and heck, just keeping our jobs.

Thank you for the YT channel, I will check that out!

The weird thing about my prolapse situation is I only have very mild symptoms, and sometimes none at all, so now I am questioning the stage 3 diagnosis.

Pat, 5000 steps is still pretty good! Was the office party fun?

For the past two days, I've done nothing but walk. Today the weather got up to a balmy 70 degrees, and it was lovely. Since I invested in more P.volve equipment during Black Friday, honestly I don't know why keep doing this, I should put it to use. I'll do one of their workouts tomorrow.

Over the past few days, I've been slowly unsubscribing from a few streaming things that I haven't used in ages. Barre3 was one of the ones I let go, I was kind of sad about it, but it's changed so much from when Sadie started the method. It just didn't feel the same to me anymore, and it was time.

Happy Saturday! Yesterday I accomplished:

~ Bird's Pilates/stretch
~ Yes2Next 5 Minute HIIT Workout
~ Kassandra Gentle Bedtime Yoga
~ 5,518 steps

I had stumbled upon the Yes2Next channel quite a while ago while looking for five minute routines to do at my desk. It's proving to be a good fit for recovery mode. I love the two ladies' personalities and they do a good job incorporating enough arm movements to pump your heartrate up.

Beth, I hope you get some answers at your appointment.

Donna, that's a very good point about the way we move being an indicator of age/health. When I'm feeling fit and happy, I move with more confidence. That's a good point to ponder!

Good morning Summer Breeze!

Hi!

Today's workout was:

Jessica Valent - Contemporary Meets Classical Pilates Workout

This one was on the more advanced side. I did modify some things and there were other things in this workout (roll overs!) that are just not happening for me. I skipped those and did my own thing. With my modifications this one worked for me.

Short dog walk

My DD had a horse show today so my workout time was short and now I'm pretty tired - and I didn't even ride the horse, LOL!

Beth - maybe your Dr was wrong on the level of prolapse you have - hopefully the specialist will have positive news for you! You might as well enjoy walking while the weather is good for you!

Pat- I'm glad you are getting some exercise in - it helps!

Summer Breeze - I hope you are feeling better and your DD, too.

Donna, that's exciting about the horse show! What type of riding does she do? I've watched Jessica and I think I would have to modify her workouts. She is pretty advanced.

Pat, what a wonderful workout, have a great day.

Summer breeze, I hope you are continuing to feel better.

This morning I did p.volve with the p.3 trainer; its was a full-body functional workout. I'm on the fence about how I feel about it. Even though I tightened the band to increase resistance, my arms never fatigued like the trainer said they would. I will most likely end up adding on the p.ball workouts to existing strength training with MR or Cee. It does feel like the ball helps focus with leg and thigh toning. Their core and pelvic floor focus is good as well, but overall, I couldn't imagine this being the only type of workout I do.

Hi,

I don't know what came over me, but this morning, I was really nostalgic for Pahla B. So, I decided to give one a try for old time's sake. It went well but I'm remaining cautious - since I have a strong suspicion that there is something in her workouts that aggravates the heck out of my back/hip. And, I can't figure out what it is b/c some of the exercises she does are done in other workouts that I do like Lively Ladies, Burpee Girl, Lucy Wyndham Read, etc. It is a mystery. And, it is a shame b/c I generally like working out w/ Pahla - the workouts are simple and I enjoy her message.

Anyway, today was:

Pahla B - 5 Pounds Down (this was her 2022 playlist - where she did 5 workouts every 4 weeks in 2022) - Day # 1 - Fast Walk to Kickstart Weight Loss. This was a typical Pahla B walking workout w/ walking in between body weight cardio exercises.

Then, I did a yoga session w/ Adriene - another instructor that I used frequently in the past and migrated away from. In the case of Adriene, it wasn't injury - but something about her just started to bug me. I think her vibe changed from a more carefree and friendly instruction style to a more serious style. In addition, Adriene is not super great at showing or mentioning modifications - but I know enough at this point to do my own.

Anyway, I did:

Yoga w/ Adriene - Fill Your Cup - this started out on the floor and ended up standing. It was a nice practice, 20 min.

Beth - I guess what my daughter does is "eventing" so a little bit of everything - dressage, show jumping and cross country. The event she did yesterday was a "derby" - essentially they jump the cross country jumps in an arena as opposed to out in the field. She is not a serious competitor, it is more for fun for her - she was just happy to complete the course and have her horse go over all the jumps. I think they score it based on time and # of faults. Her love of horses is probably what has made her want to go into veterinary medicine - that is her goal anyway... I would have a hard time sticking to any one type of workout - as if that isn't obvious, LOL! I can focus on a particular instructor or style for a period of time but then I do crave variety and change. I'm still shocked that I'm not really doing Ellen's 10 Day Challenge. I love her, but I think I'm just tired of her right now, so I'll give it a break and focus on something else for a bit.

Hope everyone has a good day!

I'm not sure what else I will do today - gotta catch up on housework, chores and all that good stuff.

Good morning!!

Just checking in. It's been a few days. I think I'm starting to feel back to normal.
I'm even thinking of some exercise today but I'm not sure what yet. DD is doing well too. Thanks to everyone for asking.

DONNA, it's funny I was thinking of maybe some Pahla B today too but I may just go for a walk. I'll see how I feel later since it's chilly now. You're doing a nice variety of workouts. I totally agree with all you've said about body changes and older women in the workplace and all the rest. Sounds like a nice day at the horse show for your DD. Good for her.

BETH, I enjoy both MR and Cee's strength work. Not sure if I'm quite up to that yet but soon hopefully.

PAT, looks like you're getting in some nice workouts.

Waves to all.

Have a wonderful day everyone!!

Happy Sunday! We had a full day of rain yesterday so I stayed in catching up, starting on Christmas and of course, reading. For exercise I accomplished:

~ Yes2Next 10 Minute Toilet Paper Workout
~ SeniorShape One Dumbbell Strength Workout
~ Kassandra Root Chakra Yin Yoga & Affirmations
~ 2,975 steps

I fell upon the toilet paper workout when looking for 10 minute routines on Yes2Next. You use packaged rolls - think Mr. Whipple squeezing the Charmin. It was a hoot! I also liked Lauren's one dumbbell workout, very efficient in 12 minutes. The yin routine required many modifications, but I made it work for me right now.

Summer Breeze, it's so good to read you're beginning to feel better.

Donna, I hope Pahla didn't tweak you. I get the same thing from Essentrics - so healthy for your back and joints but something just aggravates me. Your DD's horse events sound thrilling!

Beth, it sounds like you need more for upper body than P.Volve. It's good to shake things up, though.

Enjoy the remainder of your weekend!

Hi!

Yesterday I did manage a dog walk - it was nice out and my dog is so used to going now she comes to get me when it is time - which is a good thing overall as I would sometimes be tempted to skip it.

Also, no ill effects from Pahla B so far - but that isn't surprising, I would usually notice some tweaks after several consecutive days of doing her workouts. I guess if want to reintroduce them I have to either figure out the move(s) that bug(s) me and do substitute moves or find the ideal schedule for doing them. I'm sort of hesitant to rock the boat as much as I enjoyed her workouts in the past, 2022 was a good year for me in terms of not having pain, and i don't want to trigger anything.

Today, so far:

Lauren/Senior Shape - Christmas Dance & Walk - this was her holiday workout from last year, it was about 20 min, the bulk of it is light cardio dance and the last portion is some weight training for just a few minutes. I did this one mainly to warm-up and wake up, plus it is the time of year to do holiday themed workouts.

Jessica Valent - 10 Min Leg Workout w/ Weights - this was a basic lower body workout - squats (3 sets, I believe) lunges (2 sets) and a deadlift series.

Jessica Valent - Knee friendly Pilates workout - this was a nice one, a good mix of exercises.

I have a dr's appointment this afternoon w/ my PCP. Hopefully it will be quick and painless and I can get my dog walk in, too. Oh, my PCP is also leaving the practice in January and I am going to just look for a new office. I only stayed w/ this practice b/c I liked the dr I had. If she is gone, I'm going too. Hopefully I can find out where she is going, although I'm guessing she is not allowed to say but that is what Google is for. If they have the booster, I'll probably get it. I know they will ask about the Shingles Vax and i'm going to decline for now - I figure I'll get the COVID booster first and then worry about Shingles....and I'm still on the fence about getting that one at all.

Anyway, I digress!

Summer Breeze - did you do a Pahla B workout?

Pat - I will have to check out that TP workout, LOL! I do like Lauren's workouts she just has a very calming vibe.

Waves, Beth and anyone else stopping by today.
