I used to wear a pedometer but switched to a Fitbit (Charge 2, had it a few years) and I noticed that there were definitely differences in step count. However, I've learned to focus on calories burned, exercise minutes, etc., and don't worry so much about steps anymore. Step count is a good gauge, a way to set improvement goals, but at the end of the day, calories burned, etc., seems way more important to me. But that's just me.
