Mary, your hike sounds so wonderful! I'm hoping to get hubby to go soon. And now that it shouldn't be too muddy I want to take Cyric to the local state park for some "green" time. The woods are my happy place!

Katie, so glad to hear your mom's spirits are good! I don't blame you for not tracking when you're busy but good job keeping up with your walks and exercise!

MT, praying life is settling down some there.

Sherry, it got to 96 at my dad's house today!

I had planned to run on Saturday but we ran errands and went to lunch and got back just in time for the Twins pregame so I didn't end up doing anything workout wise. We did have a productive day other than during the game though so I didn't beat myself up for not working out. Sunday I went to church and then watched the Twins and then another game after that. It was a nice relaxing day and it was so good to finally get back to church.

Last Monday it was like 46 when I ran. Today it was 68 and very warm. It feels so good to be running again, even if the run intervals are short. And listening to baseball while I do it just makes it even better.

DH is home. He slept like a log after all of his soldiers were home safely. The weather has been beautiful lately. That helps with the clean up. I can't tell you how awful it is.

Vannie, I have been frittering lots of days away lately. I would swear I'd do better but I try not to lie..

Katie, I understand not keeping track. Sometimes it is just too much. I'm glad your mom is in good spirits. Bless her heart.

Sherry, I can't believe is was already 90+. It was pretty warm here today. We should reach 80 later in the week.

Softshoe, Your hike sounds so nice.

I haven't been doing a lot lately. It is just too painful. My main focus had been hips and upper body. Someday, when I have a shiny new hip I am going to do body pump again.

I started a new rotation, always changing my mind! I’m doing Improved Health’s Five Day Strength workouts. They are short, which works well with my three hours of walking at work. Yesterday was legs, and today was chest, triceps and core. I find them challenging enough and I’m able to use my heavier weights. Although for me that’s only ten pounds.

Today was 99. I work outside and it felt hot, I’m not used to it yet. But tomorrow is supposed to be cloudy and Thursday down to 81. Then next week low 90’s thankfully. We had a cold wet winter, but it looks like a hotter summer this year.

MT, I’m glad your dh got home safely. I’m sorry about your hip, I hope it feels better.

Softshoe, your hike sounds great. It sounds like a scenic area.

Katie, I hope your mom is doing better.

Vannie, I’m glad you had a nice Easter.

Haha!! Totally get it! I have pretty much cut the phrase "I am determined" from my vocabulary bc every time I say it I get even worse about whatever is is that I was before!

I told myself we would be walking at 9 and that was half an hour ago so I need to wrap this up! I have to get groceries and run today.

We hit the 80s last week, including one day at 88, and then the temps plummeted and it snowed on Sunday. Crazy. The warmest day this week shows a high of 56, I think. There's smthg about 80s in the spring that feels different from in the summer. Just like 70s in spring feels different from 70s in fall. Does anyone else notice that??

Saturday I went to see the Dungeons & Dragons movie with my friend and her kids. I really liked it. Sunday we then played D&D. I've only been playing since after we got married (which has somehow been almost 24 years already! ) but they have all been playing since elementary school. Yesterday I spent all day in the kitchen and still didn't get all the cleaning done. And never had time to workout either, which bums me out more than not finishing the cleaning. The Twins were off yesterday so I figured I could make myself workout after hubby went to bed. WRONG! I was cold and tired and didn't muster up the energy even for gentle yoga or PT stretches. It is what it is and today is a new day.

I signed up for a 5k trail race yesterday that is coming up quickly. I'm really excited to be doing a race again and I know my time won't be what it used to be but it should keep me running and then the joy of the race should help me continue. There are other upcoming races I want to do as well.

Workouts since I last posted have been less impressive:

I'm starting Jessica Smith's Strong and Centered Rotation today, and did the 48 Minute Total Body strength workout. I bought it when it came out, but haven't done it yet. I also did my usual three hours of walking and standing at work.

My eating is mostly good, I take quite a bit of fruits and vegetables to work as snacks and lunch. I'm still eating a bit too much, the jeans are getting tighter! But my diet is much healthier. I just had routine blood work done, and everything was normal. One of the results has improved, so I'm happy about that. I think it might be all the walking I do at work, plus the extra veggies and fruit in my diet. I've noticed my hair is thicker and my nails are stronger.

Vannie, temps do seem different at different times of year. Temps in the 70's feel cold in the summer, but warm in the winter.

I had a steroid shot in my hip on Wednesday. I have been pain free for 48 hours. I was not very nice yesterday. I figure it was the roid rage. LOL

I have been told to take it easy for a few days.

I did almost the first week of Strong and Centered, last strength workout I’ll do tomorrow. Today was house cleaning. I like the short practices on Jessica’s Stretch and Relax dvd, they relieve the soreness in my lower back, hips and shoulders.

Cardio is my walking at work.

Weather is getting hotter, highs in low 90’s. Still not too bad at work, but it will be hot once it’s over a 100.

Thanks Vannie! I’ll try it.

MT, I hope the pain relief lasts.

MT, I've been thinking about you and your hip. I hope the shot makes a nice difference for you!

Sherry, wowser on the heat! Good job on the workouts and walking AND the eating! Sounds like you are on a really good path.

Vannie, Great that you've got a race coming up. I agree with with you, definitely different feel to temperatures depending on the season...different smells especially between fall and spring.

I got my exercise spread sheet cleaned up. It had turned into organized chaos and I needed to drop the chaos part. Bring on May! We had some snow yesterday and it's all melting today but still a chilly day. Our grass is green though YAY!.
