Actress Sally Ann Howes has passed away at the age of 91. She was wonderful in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang among many other great performances. RIP

Authors Joan Didion and bell hooks died this month. hooks died on the 15th at age 69, from kidney failure. She wrote over 35 scholarly books on race and gender.

Didion died today at age 87 of Parkinson's. She wrote five novels, 14 nonfiction books on a variety of subjects (mostly cultural criticism/journalism and memoir), and 6 screenplays, including the 1976 version of A Star is Born.

Fierce women indeed. Joan Didion is one of my favorite authors. "The Year of Magical Thinking" is incredible. When I taught college classes I made sure that bell hooks was required reading.

R.I.P. to two inspiring women.

I feel really bad about John Madden. I hated him when he was coaching but I fell in love with him when he entered broadcasting and I thought he and Pat Summerall were great together. RIP

Former US Senator Harry Reid has died at the age of 82. Another heartbreaking loss for me. He helped so many people including my ex-boyfriend whose baby was born with a hole in her heart and they couldn’t get the life saving treatment she needed. Harry stepped in and made it happen. I still sing Harry’s campaign song from at least 50 (?) years ago. RIP

I had a great respect for Senator Reid, may he rest in peace.

I am also sad about John Madden. He made the Superbowl! My son was little then, and we got such a kick out of the turkey with all the legs on it.

So sad. TMZ is reporting that Betty White died this morning, she would have been 100 on January 17.

Some people seem to think it's not true. Waiting for other news sources to confirm.

I'm sure we will know for sure soon.

Sounds like it has been confirmed by her agent.

I will be binge watching The Golden Girls and Mary Tyler Moore this weekend.
