Day 5- Gilad Quick Fit System - I did the Chest and Back Workout (17 minutes) and Shoulders and Arms (20 minutes). Straight up, no nonsense. Not much of a warm up, so I'll have to remember that for next time. Definite keeper!

Although all workouts this week have been virgins, I'm going to dig into my maybe pile next week to see if I can get some of those virgin maybes completed. The Kathy Kaehler one was a virgin maybe, which is now in the keeper pile . And I've gone back and forth on Fe Fit for awhile now. I will still have to complete the whole system before deciding. But so far, I think it's a keeper too

Day 4

I'm a bit behind. Spent most of the day on the road yesterday, so no time for a workout I got back so late.

Today was busy (and stressful) so got something in before bed. I did...

Alanna Zabel's Element Beginner Level Yoga for Toning, Flexibility and Stress Release.

This DVD is fairly new-to-me, so I hadn't done the Stress Release practice yet!

Alanna's yoga is very meditative, positive and life affirming. Instead of speaking during the practice about the poses you're doing, she talks more about what you should be thinking and feeling during the session. I have other PM practices I prefer to this one, but (the few poses that were done) were held for a good length of time. The Toning and Flexibility sections are better, IIRC.

Another point to add....Alanna is a talker. I'm not sure I want to hear so much of her right before bed. During the day, might be another story. ;-)

Day 5
#6: Leslie Sansone / Walk Away the Pounds / Walk Strong (virgin? dust bunny? can't remember if I've ever done it before)

This workout is set up as 4 rounds of [3 minutes "walking" / 3 minutes strength training]. The warm-up bored me; as did the first round of walking. But I liked the strength training interval, so I stuck with it. The walking segments and the strength segments were briskly paced, so it was nice energy-boost at the end of the work day. That being said, I'm not sure if I'll keep it. And I happy that I don't have to do another Leslie workout for the remainder of this challenge.

Day 6, dustbunny. 10ms yoga with Lara Hudson.

I pulled this one out because I will keep a dvd if I only like part(s) of it. I did the yoga for abs segment.

Cons: Lara gives no form pointers for making sure your core is engage before starting any of these exercises. There is also an exercise where you start in reverse table top and pull yourself through until you are balance on your arms ( I'm sorry, I don't know the name of the pose). My arms are not long enough for this pose and she offers no alternatives, like idk, using a yoga block?

Pros:...

This is going into the donate pile.

Hi Pat,

Come on in and join us!!! I'd just start with your Day 1 and continue from there. It's possible folks will want to continue on past the 20 Days/20 Instructors, too! It's never too late and the more the merrier!

Or, if there's anything you've done in the last six days, list them like Helen is doing! But, you do you!
  • Day 1...
  • Day 2...
  • Day 3...
  • Day 4...
  • Day 5...
  • Day 6...

DAY 6 (July 16, 2021) semi-virgin - borrowed from my library

2011 Mary Helen Bowers - Ballet Beautiful Total Body Workout: 6 routines
  • Bridge Series
  • Abs
  • Inner Thigh
  • Outer Thigh
  • Arms
  • Standing
There are 6 routines on the DVD. Previously, I only did the Abs routine (twice). I decided to do the entire workout today. The Bridge Series was my favorite. I enjoyed the workout more than I thought I would. It definitely was not easy for me -- tons of reps (I couldn't finish all the reps) and the instructor goes very quickly (now I wish I had a slo-mo DVD player). I think I can grow (even at my age) with this workout. Instructor is quite pleasant, and I the classical piano music (I used to play the piano.) I used to attend the San Francisco Ballet performances decades ago. Now the price per ticket is more than I can afford and I'm more comfortable watching Ballet DVDs at home.
