Does Pilates count as stretching? Is there any strecthing that isn't boring?

I have such a hard time finding stretching workouts that I will do. I really dislike stretching, and it is so boring. I've tried Classical Stretch a couple of times, and I just can't get into it. Ditto for Yoga Tune Up. I do like Pilates. Does that count as stretching?

Alycea Ungaro in her Pilates Practice Companion wrote under Pilates Myths "Pilates is a stretching technique" - "This is true...and also not true. Here's the reality: Pilates is uniquely adaptable and as a result every session or class can be tailored to the individual needs of the person or group. Pilates moves were created to address total fitness. Each exercise has a strength component as well as a flexibility component. If you need more strength than stretch, simply focus on that. For a more intense flexibility program, you can gear the workout to concentrate on the stretching aspect of Pilates."

have you tried "fusion" style pilates? Ellen Barrett is my top pick in this area. you feel stretched out, there's standing work, some mat work.

Callanetics (original) has both stretching and strengthening.

My DH liked Karen Voight's Pure & Simple Stretch. it's like an athletic stretch as opposed to yoga, however, Karen does have some good yoga workouts that are short.

have you tried yoga? Jill Miller's yoga tune up is not really yoga - it's more like self-therapy.

Love the quote mentioned by softshoe.

Books by Brooke Siler and Alycea Ungaro are really helpful to find the pilates moves that will focus more on stretch to suit your needs.

I will say that mobility, the idea of moving in a healthy way, also involves strengthening weaker areas. I usually do moves I have memorized while doing something else, during commercials, or play my favorite music. So it's how I feel afterwards that's the driving factor. Pilates is great for that.

Ditto on recommendations for Ellen Barrett and 10 minute solution.

Do you like Tamilee? Her Total body stretching is great. Beach setting.

You might try looking for Jessica Valent on youtube to see her stretchy playlists.

Here's some:

Also maybe doing youtube videos featuring titles with "mobility."

Here's a good one:

I have never been able to find a yoga workout that clicks with me, and I find traditional stretching programs boring and don't stay with them.

I have enjoying CDornerFitness mobility workouts:
