Barefoot & On the Mat, March 2023 - CHOOSE to be lion or lamb!

Hey all, I was about to reply to Pat but then realized we needed a new thread for March!

For anyone new or lurking, WELCOME!!! This is a long-running VF check-in that has had various names and various forms - we now do a monthly thread.

We're a friendly, supportive group who enjoy a wide variety of workouts, especially those traditionally done without shoes. Join us if you enjoy yoga, Pilates, barre, qi gong, Classical Stretch/Essentrics, Callanetics - or even if you like to do things like cardio and weight lifting barefoot!

Post anytime - we don't bite.
And don't let March boss you around - CHOOSE weather you want to be a lion or a lamb!!!

ETA March Quotes

I think we've used this one before, but it's one of my favorites:
“Our life is March weather, savage and serene in one hour.”
~Ralph Waldo Emerson

This one is a bit more encouraging:
"Every cold and dark phase ends and hence begins a beautiful phase of warmth and vibrance. Don’t believe? Just notice March."
~Anamika Mishra

Linda, sounds like you are still making progress! I laughed at 38 minutes on Cubi - sometimes I'm going for an even number like 40 but then I peter out.

Sandra, hoping you get a positive margin result! Sounds like the scar won't be too bad.

Paine, that's a lot of Unplugged!

cyana, I think we need even more Plan Bs as we get old.

Pat, I like the idea of Marching into March! We did a "Find Your Power" theme in yoga class to chose what you would like to invite in for March.

I would also like to get back doing more quick office routines. I decided I'm going to try to do short unweighted arms in the office since I've been doing a lot less of that than I sued to. Here's a playlist I've put together of desk/office/quick routines: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?lis...dKMXF799j_oqgO

I also plan to film another Lunchtime yoga practice soon!

Pilates Perfect Body with Suzanne Bowen (Buns & Thighs workout; Belly workout; half of Arms workout)

I didn't remember that Bowen's Arms workout had plank work half way through so I Joni-Oed it after a couple minutes into the plank work because I didn't feel like doing planks.

Beth, thank you for starting our March month! Also, thank you for that Pilates by Dana link. Wow, that's a great set of desk/office/quick routines playlist!! Thank you for sharing that too. I bookmarked it!
I didn't do the entire 3 Unplugged episodes. I only did the lower body exercises from each episode.

Pat, I'm sorry you are so sore from PT. That must have been an intense session!

Popping in to say Aloha!

Thanks for starting the month off Beth, love the quotes!

I’m still doing lots of walking, yoga, & soaking up the sun. We get home on March 15.

Hope everyone is well, waving to all!

Hi!

Beth, thanks for getting us started this month.

Today's Workout: Finally back to my favorite gym two-fer -- yoga class at 9:30, followed by the Gold class at 11. The instructor from Monday's Gold class attended, and in fact we had 10 participants!

Now that I'm back at home and all cleaned up I decided to leave my incision uncovered for a while. It isn't beautiful, but I really do think it will heal up very well and not be too noticeable.

Linda: The tech who removed the outside stitches warned me about what they call "spitting sutures." Although annoying they are not considered a cause for concern. I was told I can trim them myself or come into the office and they will do it.

Yogapam: Good to hear from you! Enjoy the rest of your time in Hawaii.

Waving to everyone!

No workout today as I'll be at the food closet.

Had to share that my margins are negative on my excision -- yay! However, "severe solar elastosis" or sun damage was noted, so sun hats and increased SPF products are in my future.

Waving to all!

Good morning everyone! Still nothing active other than the stretches only from home PT. I saw my massage therapist and she worked some magic. I might just spend a ton of money going to see her more often for awhile if it will move things forward.

Sandra, that's wonderful news! And I'm happy for you that you're back to your favorite back to back classes.

Beth, thanks for starting our March thread. It came in like a loudly bleating lamb around here. Hopefully spring will go out like a gently purring lion.

Waves to all!

Sandra, I'm relieved that your margins are negative. That's good news!

Pat, yes use your massage therapist if she gives you relief.

Pat, I think I'm having a loudly bleating lamb kind of day!

This morning I did The Bar Method Fat Free and upper body on my own.

Beth - my times on Cubii are crazy. I do a five or six minute warm-up and cool down. I was hungry so I stopped my cool down. Depending on if I'm reading or watching tv, sometimes my cool downs are longer than my workout.

Sandra - good to know your margins are clear. The spitting suture in my shoulder was several inches long. I had the PT cut it because I'm left handed and it was my left shoulder.

Question for you all. If you had a thumb and shoulder on the same side that are bone on bone and about equal in pain which would you get fixed first?
