Hi everyone, I finished my workout week today with Epic Heat Day 25 - EMOM HIIT (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RoTv...XkXVM&index=27) Every Minute on the Minute with three exercises 10x reps, for 10 total sets, then go onto another three exercises, then last three for 30 minutes. Let me preface by saying I did all the pushups on my knees, and I only did 5x of the last exercise (pushup variety) that she offered as an option instead of 10x. With that said, I performed all 100 burpees (10 reps x 10 sets) with a lot of stamina! And no notifications on any of the other exercises at all. I thought the burpees would kill me but I just felt energized! Actually I really felt very powerful and energized through the workout until about the 7th iteration of the last set of exercises towards the end of the workout. I did a growwithjo dance (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozBb...MXm_p&index=65) with lower energy for a warm up and extended stretch for a 63 minute workout. So that was fantastic. The last few days I've really been feeling stronger, tighter, and more powerful, and so into the Epic Heat rotation and Caroline in general. Also, Caroline finally released a new workout today after about two months of silence, this one was a standalone workout but she says she's working on a new series (I think a series anyway). Now for two rest days!

Eventmom Wow thank you so much for the Shiva Rea chapters!! I am going to put that DVD in and preview all of that. Looks terrific.

Horses and oil painting sounds awesome for retirement! My mom took an oil painting class and she created a really beautiful painting, if I recall it was a fruit still life. Oil painting is interesting because I guess the piece never dries, even hundreds of years old paintings are never fully dry. Creative writing sounds awesome too!! Maybe you can paint some illustrations to go with your creative writing? Is your artwork going to be horse themed?

Buzzer waves!

today - yoga basics from caribbean aerobics dvd, cross country schooling with my horse, then resistance stretch

ebianco - thanks for starting the new thread! that grow with jo looks fun. interesting about oil painting I didn't know that! So far I've painted one painting - a landscape from a photo I snapped after a storm in NM. So probably not that horse themed. The only writing I'm likely to do is screenplays so won't be illustrating. Did your mom just paint the one painting? I just started this class in August and finished one painting last week. I'm sort of slow because I have no idea what I'm doing but it's fun.

hi buzzer - hope you had a great weekend!

Walk on treadmill through Switzerland.. DONE!
Jari Love Extremely ripped and chiseled Lower body only.... DONE!
Jari Love Extremely ripped and chiseled Upper body only.. DONE!

Wow. That Jari is killer!!! She advertises on the front "2 30 minute workouts!" when in reality they are probably about 45. I will amend that further to say the lower is 45, however it also includes chest and back work. I skipped the chest and back and just did the leg work, and man, my legs were SO SORE! It's now 3 days later and my legs are still sore. A good sore, but sore nonetheless!

Most of the leg workout doesn't use weights, and the one exercise that does use weights, I just grabbed 10's. This would be a good traveling lower body workout!

Yesterday I did the upper body workout. I did start with the chest and back I skipped the day before though, so the workout was longer. I tried to use 10's for the whole thing, and was successful until the biceps. That pain is still there in my right arm, so I dropped to 5's and it was still a killer workout! I am putting it back in the player for another round for sure. Great workout!
It is lacking abs. There was one section of abs, however it was pretty lame compared to the rest of the workout. I won't stress about it though, since I am doing so many different workouts it'll even out in the "end"!

We had a busy weekend, of course. LB and I are taking care of some chickens up the street (well, she is taking care of them, I am standing in the chicken run watching them and the ducks... they have 2 ducks also). So we go there first thing in the morning and right before dark. The ducks are good and go right to bed, the chickens we have to chase around and herd into their coop. Last night they were better, they are starting to figure out who we are. I am not a fan of chickens and ducks I've decided. LB really wants me to say that they are cute and fun, but they are just chickens! HA! I don't know. I don't think I am meant to be a mini farmer.

We also met my sisters for lunch on Saturday, then spent Saturday evening hanging out and picking up the house. I will admit my house is looking better. I am noticing that the cleaning up, getting rid of stuff and organizing is definitely making it feel more peaceful. I also think taking control of things instead of letting DH control things with clutter is helping. I am constantly after Lb to pick up after herself too. Yesterday we went to see "Lyle Lyle Crocodile" and although it was frustrating from a Mom point of view (the kid is out all night with a crocodile in downtown New York.) it was a good movie. Alamo Drafthouse, so we got to eat hamburgers!!! YAY!!!

I was exhausted in the afternoon and evening, and DH wanted to work on the garage. I feel like all we do is work on the garage anymore. I am so tired of the garage. I would love to say it feels good to have the garage completed, however it's already full of stuff and we are still cleaning up outside it (which also has the stuff we used to build it all around it), moving stuff around and filling holes. I feel like we are just a slave to it. People ask me if we are enjoying the space, and we are not. We don't even go in there. My dream of extra space, open space, is gone. It's full of DH's shop stuff, LB's bedroom that we cleared out, and shelves and shelves of I don't know what. It's painful for me even to talk about. It's not useable right now at all. Plus DH's office is there so it's not like we can use it to play in anyhow.

So yesterday DH worked on the garage, we kinda helped a bit, but it is so frustrating. I am so over building and all that is going with it. So LB and I cut out and went inside to read books. I'm sure DH wasn't happy, he needs and loves the help, but I just feel like a slave to stuff and the garage.

Plus LB and I have another busy week, so I just don't feel like taking up all our time with busy-ness. I hope we can go to the bookstore between swim this morning and her Spanish class this afternoon!

Ebianco: Thanks for starting a new thread! You and Eventmom are good at that. I usually just keep going without even a thought. I had no idea about oil painting not drying! That's annoying! HA! I would always have to be careful not to pack it away or store it poorly then. I am not that careful! It makes sense though, since it's oil. I just had never thought of it. Now I know what kind of painting I would never be able to do!

I'm glad your DH is doing Ok. I've been thinking of him all week. So scary. I worry about my DH a lot, however what can you do. He's getting a heart scan sometime (he said he scheduled it) so that always gives me some peace of mind!

Eventmom: Oooooh! That makes sense, that you are doing on line classes! That's kinda nice. No commute which saves time. It's good too that it's kinda like a slow winding down too. Not just an immediate crazy schedule then.... nothing. That would be harder. I'm glad you have a plan to fill your time! Taking classes is a good way to do that. I'm not sure what I will do after LB.. I have lot of time to think about it. However taking classes would definitely be high on my list! That and reading books. Lots of books.

Jacquely Umoff totally toned barre babe sculpt + 20 min TA DC

the names of these workouts sort of crack me up but how many ways can you say barre sculpt!

buzzer - I've never had chickens or ducks... I didn't know they had to 'go to bed' so to speak! Sorry the garage is already full but glad your hard work in the house has paid off. I am so busy with this on line course (they expect me to post EVERYTHING before it goes live) so I haven't kept up around the house like I would have liked. I have so much in the way of work clothes I don't need or want anymore that I'd love to start getting rid of some of it.

Hi everyone,

I started my workout week yesterday with Epic Heat Day 26, posterior chain (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jKDk...XkXVM&index=28). Every week of Epic Heat is very consistent with a an upper/lower/upper week then a lower/upper/lower week, except this week where she combines glutes/back on Day 26, then quads on Day 27, then lats/triceps on Day 28. I don't like this at all because there's no chest, biceps, or shoulders at all, also, I don't want to work my lower body back to back! So I took it upon myself to make yesterday into a back/shoulder/bicep/abs workout, following all her back exercises-which were lengthy and terrific-but doing shoulders/biceps/abs while she was doing glutes.

Then today I followed Day 27 quad workout (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bkp2...XkXVM&index=29) closely except I subbed some deadlifts that I missed yesterday, in place of some of the relentless quad work. Tomorrow I'll probably follow as is unless I feel I need more chest.

Edited for Friday: today was Epic heat Day 28 today, and it was triceps, lats, but also chest which I didn't realize so that's good, and I added some abs (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7dem...XkXVM&index=30). I had a little more time today so I warmed up with Fitprime GForce again just for a couple of cardio tunes, and with stretch was a 52 minute workout. This Epic workout really killed my upper body today I don't know if it's build up from Wednesday or I'm more tired today or it was just REALLY hard (Caroline actually said this one was really hard in her intro so maybe that was it!). Anyway total body tomorrow and HIIT on Sunday. One of the things I thought I wouldn't like on preview on this system, but turns out is TERRIFIC, is a pretty short (30-35m) total body on Saturday. In my mind it should be much longer, but really they're fast and furious and I wouldn't be able to push myself any more. If they were longer I would probably have developed a real dread factor. This system is so tough!! And it's one of the "easier" of her systems. I'm just over 1/2 way out of the 10 week system!

Edited for Saturday: I did Epic Heat Day 29 total body circuits (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a84K...XkXVM&index=31) which I really enjoyed but I'm totally wiped out. I was scrambling a lot today because I'm hosting a party and was on a cleaning frenzy, and work is the busiest of the year last week and this upcoming week, and my energy is just totally spent. I'm squeezing in my walking before everyone comes. At least then I get to relax and eat good food and cake!

Tomorrow...HIIT workout to finish the week. Will I have more energy by then?

Thankfully starting next week she returns to the regular structure.

Eventmom That particular grow with jo is really fun! I have many of hers saved, but that one is easily my favorite. I just really like that EDM

I don't remember if my mom just painted one or she just really liked that one (she has it on display in her house). The landscape sounds really pretty! Also screenplays - fun!!

Buzzer That is hilarious about the ducks putting themselves to bed I haven't had chickens but my DH did, in his "prior life" before we met when he was a farmer for a while as a side hustle to his regular 9-5. He had ducks and goats for a length of time. He still had a chicken incubator when he met me and we took a trip out to the more rural side of the state to give it to his friend. The friend has a bigger property and a lot more chickens than he had - he had about 20 at a time where she has about 100, and when he stopped with the chickens he had given them to her, so she still had many of them. Anyway I got to meet all her chickens and they were very personable! Apparently if you are around them all the time, they create bonds with you, and you can even pick them up and hold them and snuggle them. Still, I didn't know that they 'went to bed' I'll have to ask DH about that!

I'm glad you feel like your house is coming along, and you're made progress on feeling organized! And got to enjoy a movie with family! Ugh sorry about the garage though. It sounds like such a headache.

Jari Love Extremely ripped and chiseled, only legs... DONE!
Same workout, only chest and back... DONE!
Same workout, only delts, tris and bis... DONE!
BUG Joyce Vedral, only the abs done after chest and back... DONE!

So this workout is so long and intense, I split it into 3 workouts. I really focused more that way! It worked out perfectly. After the chest and back I did Joyce Vedral BUG abs, which I can see getting old super fast. It's very tedious and boring. However, they do a really good job on working your abs! It's good. So today my whole body is feeling it in one way or another, so I will walk/light jog on the treadmill.

Jari must do about 50 reps every set in this workout. I remember not liking this workout because of the dark background, and the way the lights move it made me feel like I was going to be blinded by the spotlights. However, doing the workout I didn't even notice any of that. I did notice that Jari has on this balloon skirt thing that was annoying and she pulled at it a few times so I think she thought it was annoying too. It also was very unflattering on her. The workout itself though is amazing! I loved it. I can't believe there's no weights used on the legs and it hurts so much.

We have been super busy, and believe it or not I slept 7 hours for two nights in a row! Then yesterday during Westernaires, LB got bucked off her horse. She screamed the whole way down, and of course she fell in slow motion. Luckily the horse didn't step on her because he bucked until she was off. As soon as she hit the ground, I took off towards where she was (on the outside of the arena, and she was inside). She was sitting there crying, and the medics made it there pretty quick too. Apparently I wasn't supposed to run to where she was, and was escorted back to the viewing area which was so hard. She ended up getting back on the horse (not only a cliche!! HA!) and finishing the ride.

When she came out, she cried when she saw us. I texted DH that it had happened, and he came to meet her when she came out too. She is pretty sore and red from her hip to her shoulder, and pretty scraped up. However, she is fine! I am so proud of her. She was pretty proud of herself too. But of course, I slept crappy last night because I have to replay it in my mind and also, since I didn't know I wasn't supposed to run to where she is, I also replayed that I broke the rule and debate if I would have still run if I knew the rule. It's hard to leave your only kid out there to the care of others, when you know you can check her yourself. So bad night of sleep last night. I knew I would though.

So anyhow, I guess got that out of the way. Another horse gave another girl trouble later on, and she jumped off. He was just acting wacky, and she basically jumped off. So all sorts of craziness with horses yesterday. Sadly, one of the crazinesses was with my kiddo!! I haven't been comfortable with horseback riding anyhow, I know how injured she can get. Now I am even more nervous. Not going to make her stop though, I know I have to let her do things. It's just hard.

Anyhow, Ebianco, yes! Waking up the chickens and ducks was basically letting them out of their coops and into their yard area, then making sure they had food and water. Putting them to bed is basically putting them back into the coops, closing up the cop and making sure they are secured. The bears and mountain lions love a good chicken dinner up here, so they are surrounded by electric fence when they are in bed. They were all very willing to go to their coops, some times we had to herd them and of course, there were some ornery chickens who wanted to run around and stay outside. It was kinda fun!

LB loved picking up the chickens and ducks and hugging them. I would pet them on the head and neck. It's weird petting chickens. Never thought I'd do that. HA! The ducks are cute though. Now LB wants two chickens and a duck.

Now we have moved on to watching her violin teachers cat. So the hole the chickens left in her heart is now filled with cat love! HA! She wants a cat too. As we were leaving the cat last night, I said "sorry, we'd take you home but we have two big dogs." LB added "and Dad is allergic. And I am allergic." so there's that. She has to wash her hands really well after visiting the cat, but she's fine otherwise. We just know now we really can't have a cat!!!

Eventmom: We have been so busy too, and I am noticing the house suffering for it. I just need to try to stay on top of it. I need to go through summer clothes, figure out what I can't wear any more or don't wear, and get rid of it. It's just a very overwhelming project! I'm ready to retire so I can get this stuff done! HA!

Hi all,

I finished my workout week with Epic Heat Day 30, weighted HIIT (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xN0...XkXVM&index=32). I warmed up just like last week with Grow with Jo EDM (this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozBbxLCwemU) and extended stretch for 58 minutes. I definitely fall into my routines! LOL. I got to really sleep in today and relax, so I had more stamina to get through all those burpees that Caroline loves to do!

So glad to have two rest days now. My left shoulder feels fine most of the time, even when I'm working out, but I must have tweaked it slightly because sometimes it hurts now when I sleep. I hope it won't become an ongoing problem like my right shoulder was for a couple of years off and on.

This is going to be my most stressful week of work probably in the entire year. So I'm hoping by this time next weekend, I'll be so calm and relaxed! Just need to get there...

Eventmom waves!

Buzzer Wow sorry that LB fell down, but that showed a lot of courage and determination that she got back up again!!! I don't think I would have done that when I was her age.

I know all about how the chickens attract predators, foxes, raccoons, anything, they all want to eat the chickens! And bears and mountain lions, that's even scarier! Very cute that LB was picking them up and snuggling them! And watching the cat sounds like a fun activity too.

Did I tell you guys that we got another dog? Another shih tzu, very cute totally jet black. He was born on May the 4th (star wars day like "may the 4th be with you" ) so we named him Jedi. We've had him a few weeks but I don't think I mentioned it. I don't know how DH talked me into another dog, but he is the only boy and he's actually extremely calm and sweet, he picked up the "routine" so to speak in a day, puppy pads and all, and the others didn't take long at all to love him. So now we have SIX dogs, including his white german shepherd, 3x shih tzus, a pomeranian, and yorkie. And he's the only boy so I wasn't sure what to expect, but he's terrific, not really any different from the girls, they're all sweet and well behaved. I thought to mention it because I had a party yesterday and my young niece was over and she loves all the dogs, and then she asked "why don't you have any cats?" and it made me think of your LB wanting a cat LOL. Someone else yesterday piped up and said "isn't 6 dogs enough?" LOL. At least DH and I are agreed on no cats!!

Not sure how I fell off the check-in band wagon other than got really busy this week. It was one of those weeks where I just was behind all week. I’d have say 8 things on my to do list and 4 would get done. Just weird stuff coming up all the time.

Tuesday – pulled out my floor barre dvd. I’d been doing free zoom floor barres on Tuesday so it was sort of funny that’s what I wanted that day.
Wed – Action Jacqulyn body sculpt – probably a short cardio
Thursday – AJ dance cardio leg sliming
Friday – essentrics stretch
Saturday – 20 min sara Ivanhoe yoga, rode my horse at show, came home did a 20 min hemalaya yoga practice
Today – AJ wedding shred barre (she got married so she created a set of get in great shape for your wedding videos)

Buzzer – congrats on the sleep! Mine was sort of off this week. Maybe that’s why I put in effort but don’t have much to show for it. Sorry LB got bucked off but yeah the wisdom is get back on and she did it. Tell her I said, believe it or not, good for you! If you’ve never fallen off you’ve never ridden.

Ebianco – SIX dogs! Indoors, that’s a lot but great at the same time. The new one sounds super sweet. The girls will boss him around no problem!

RUN! on treadmill 30 minutes.. DONE!

Yes! I didn't run fast, but I ran! I am pretty proud of myself. I did the walk program, where we are hiking a trail in the alps. On the times where it was flat and the treadmill was at a small incline, I ran. When it was steep, I walked. I definitely kicked it up from where the trainer was at! It felt good though. I only ran at about a 4.2 mph pace, which is probably some people's fast walk, and it wasn't a difficult run. I didn't feel like I was dying for air or even really breathing hard. However, its as really a good run for me! It felt good. It really did.

The rest of the day LB and I were at Elitches (the amusement park) with my friend and her 3 year old daughter. LB loved to spend the day in kiddie land!!! It was so much fun!!! They let her ride a lot of the rides, and they had a ton of rides! It was so much more LB's speed. She loved it. Some rides they would let her on with the 3 year old, then the next time they wouldn't . It was very random however for the most part they let her on and it was perfect!

She did the bumper cars so many times. The kiddie bumper cars were awesome! I wish they had bumper cars for adults so she could ride them. The kiddie land was kinda like what adult amusement parks used to be. Now they are all spinning and high and trying to kill you.

Today is a bit of a slower day, we are meeting her accountant from ameritowne at urban air, so this evening she will be running. However today she is relaxing a bit and hanging out. Which is good, since today my throat hurts and I just feel kinda weird. I don't know if I'm coming downwith something or have just had too stressful and crazy of a weekend.

Ebianco: ANOTHER DOGGIE!! I love it! What did you guys name him? I'm not sure I could handle 6 dogs, however I know you can! he sounds great! I'm sure he's in your pack and not your DH's I'm glad he blended in so easily. That makes it easier for you and for the doggie! Congratulations!

I think you will cruise through this week at work, compared to the week of your DH's heart issues! You've been through bad, you will probably be "oh, this isn't as bad as I thought" comparatively. Good luck!

Eventmom: I'll tell her! She now is laughing about the falling, and enjoying telling the story. I told her I think I'm more affected by it than she is! She was asked by my friend yesterday if she's afraid of horses now, and she said "Nope!" I told her, I sure would have been at her age. She is very brave in my book!
