VF hoarders unite!

Why, oh why, can’t I get rid of fitness DVDs I don’t like? VF, that’s why!

I don't like pilates but I have a dozen DVDs that I can’t seem to part with because VF loves them: people get great results with them, they are classics, etc.

Please tell me I’m not the only one who keeps things because VF likes them and someday I might see the light and change my mind. (Um, no, I won’t.)

You are not alone . I usually like what I try but my collection gets so big I just can't do it all. I feel you on pilates though. Just can't seem to fit it in, although in theory it should be good to me.

The only way I can make myself get rid of any of my DVDs is through Share The Wealth. As long as my unused DVD is going to another VFer, I know it is going to a better home than mine, where it sits accusingly on my shelf.

I went through my Goodwill box this morning and pulled out some Firm DVDs, all the while telling myself I was going to regret it and that there's a reason they're in there. Well, after about 10 minutes I Joni-O'd the one I was doing. When will I ever learn?

I’m so crazy that I have dvds from 20? Years ago still in shrink wrap BUT lately I’ve been going through these and trying them.

Ditto on the Pilates. I have many, not as many as other genres, but I’d say it’s my most unused type. Kickboxing is next.

I love my yoga, barre, cardio/weight workouts.

I don’t do Pilates either. Or yoga very often. However, I can get rid of dvds. Although, I haven’t been using my favorites either, because I only use streaming or you tube.

I rarely do pilates but have a decent size collection of them, after all I might need to change what I am doing one day and I do like some of the instructors and so does VF.
Every time I come home with DVDs from thrifting (which the idea of was given by VF) I read a good review and try workouts I had no idea about but VF likes them so I had to give them a shot. Rarely do I part with DVDs unless they have poor form showing, an instructor who is disorganised or feels unsafe or I feel embarrassed to have in my collection even though no one really sees it apart from my closest family.

I have the same problem. It is hard for me to part with fitness things. Inspired by Bubbles 76, I am starting to go through things and letting some of them go. I love Pilates, and have a large collection of dvds and books, but like many of you, I have a hard time fitting them in.

PS I also have a lot of vhs tapes that I can't part with either.

I'm very sensible about what I keep.

• those easier than I do now are kept for:
- recovery days, or
- when I'm older & not up to doing what I do now, or
- if I get injured (that HAS happened with a broken shoulder & torn ACL)

• those that I can do now, but don't do often are kept for:
- variety
- avoid getting stale/bored

• those do now, and do "often" (which is simply more than once/year) are kept for:
- well... I DO them!

• those harder than I do now are kept for:
- when I'm more cardio-fit than I am now
- when I'm stronger than I am now
- when I'm more flexible (yoga/stretch) than I am now
[I'm quite optimistic]

So... being sensible, I keep them ALL.

• Resistance training is critical. 💯

¹ Walk first
² Weights next
³ Cardio for fun
⁴ Add stretch & balance.

Yes! This woman knows what she's talking about.

I keep yoga dvds because I feel I should do more yoga, and yet I never do. Once I realized I didn't care for pilates, I didn't keep what I had and didn't buy any again, so there's that.
