I'm glad you liked the Raw Bonus in CF, too! I'm not much of a Tabata fan either, but previewing the Raw Bonus in PS today, I was surprised it was a Tabata using weights. I always think of tabata work as cardio intervals that has a big dread factor...i.e. Cathe's Tabatacise. Anyway, I think she tacked that on PS to provide a little more UB/LB weight work finisher when doing either the LB or UB (shorter) workout. I'll have to try it....but some moves I'll be changing up for sure! I will say this, I've never seen Kaitlyn smile as much as she does in this!
Thanks for your encouragement about trying the seated rows...I don't know why, but I like to compare them to her lawn mower moves which I'm not sure of for my back! Hopefully my back won't be complaining but I went light as a precaution. And I mentioned this in my check-in, too, but I wasn't exactly sure of my feet placement during those. With my feet & legs out further, the moves felt better for my back. It's probably an individual thing.

Allgirlsinaz, wow, a 7 mile hike!! The weather must be pretty good out there! Hope your job transitioning is going well!

ASAS, your workout atmosphere sounded so cool during your Wii workout the other day! Dance-like atmosphere at its' best! Congrats, also about your progress during your workout yesterday! Yay!

Liz, I LOVE CL Smokin' UB & Smokin' LB workouts!!! I was thisclose to doing Smokin' Upper body today and then I realized it includes some cardio and I wasn't in the mood for cardio. (Michelle's/Kelly's little bit was too much!). I'm sorry Mr. Moo-er was at it again and this time during your workout!! I get really p.o.'d when anything/anyone interrupts my workout, as that is MY time!!! Do you have arthritis in your hands too? I thought of a possible suggestion for Mr. Moo-er…get a white noise machine (when trying to sleep, anyway)? To me, it makes ALL the difference with DH's snoring(!) and it's the first thing I pack when I travel! Just a thought you might appreciate...;0). But you may have to have it run all day/night long, ha!

Helen, I LOVE ALdi's!! I find the BEST surprises there! Not to mention all the $$ I am saving...however, just like everyone else, their prices have raised, I noticed. :0(

Elsie, how is Lift with Cee treating you? Your consistency has been great! :0) Sollamyn, yours too! Great job!

Hello and waves to all~~~

Thanks for the well wishes! I have more energy today so getting ready to try a workout. It's weird because I felt like I had the flu but no fever, and it would come and go so often.

T2B - You should definitely try pickleball. It's fun, addictive and great exercise. Me and my son usually only play singles against each other so he has the advantage being 12 with no worries about his ankle, knees or back getting injured. I had to find his weaknesses to beat him at games.

We just started playing 2 months ago and learned from YouTube single play tutorial videos. We just went for it one day playing games and then came home and re-watched videos to see what rules we forgot or messed up.

The advantage to playing doubles is that you don't have to cover your half court on your own but obviously would have to learn to work with your partner. We haven't tried doubles since the rules are different and the people playing around us seem to be part of a club where it is taken more seriously. Also, most players around us seem to be aged 40+ (I am in that group) with a few teens in high school so not sure if any would be interested in playing against a 12 yo.

We have had the best time playing and learning. It seems so simple so it gets frustrating when the ball doesn't cooperate or the wind messes with your game but tons of laughing while learning.

Glad to see you're feeling better - and possibly keen to get back to pickleball.

Thankyou for the KCM reviews.

Finally had a look at Pilates by Lisa, and was delighted that she's Australian! Have subscribed and may look into her a bit further.

Thursday
Quiet day for me - spent it putzing around the house & yard with DH - first day at home together in about 6 weeks.

Just checking in to say that I can't check in but I'll be back later for personals. Feeling so out of the loop and far behind already!

Insomnia has somehow wrapped itself around me the past several days, and it is EMBARASSING the hour at which I am falling asleep.

Missing chit chatting with everyone!

Hope you can resolve what the problem is, SOON.

Friday
DH had plans other than me doing ANYTHING I had thought of.
Only did an hour's walk with Alice, again.

ASAS - Yes, that is the Zumba set, it was delivered today. I have 1 Zumba Advanced that is from a set before this set. Beto is super young and goofy in it. Lol. I bought Jazzercise Core. I have Jazzercise Burlesque but still have never done it. I hope to do it soon. Great job with your workouts and I’m glad you’re still enjoying the wii with your family.

amg - thanks for the pickleball info. I don’t see anyone in my area playing but I do know that it is popular in the county next to us. Your son is so awesome, glad you’re having these fun moments with him. Hoping you continue to feel better.

AMD - I’m using a 5x7 planner as a diary/planner/food journal ++ and it’s tight so I understand waiting for the bigger planners. I’m going to check out Aldi this weekend and if I don’t see the big planners, I’m going to Michaels. But, I may wait until the 18 month planners come out before changing over to something bigger. I have a fitness planner in my workout room, which stays in the basement and of course, the upstairs planner is where I record everything else. I like writing way too much in my planners/diary.

Liz - no pressure to keep up or chat! Sorry the moo-er was back at it. Hope you were able to get some sleep.

Helen - hope you had a fun day with DH.

Helen How long was your holiday for? 14 days? I love your idea of breaking up the longer/tougher Cathe's over a day, but I have a mental block over getting sweaty more than once a day.

I love the idea of doing something every day. I know just from the days when I DON'T get things done, it definitely seems like they are over before they even began. Plus, it's always nice to get things done and feel that sense of accomplishment.

My houseplants are SUFFERING during the DRY heat we have going on in the house, and I am afraid that some will not make it. My calatheas are specially suffering; their poor leaves are turning brown and crispy. My diffs are holding on, and my dracaenas, well, nothing seems to phase them. I'm new to house plants so if you have any basic tips or words of wisdom you can share, I'd love to hear them. (Although, are your "houseplants" outside in your climate? I know you were planting the most recent for INDOORS, but it sounds like you are lucky enough to have them out, as well?)

Hope you've been enjoying your time with DH! It's so great when schedules finally align, right?

T2B Thanks for your well wishes about Mom. Her cognition has suffered in the move and gotten worse, unfortunately, but her mood? She's doing pretty well. Honestly, I think I took the transition worse than her! LOL (It has been frustrating and tiring, having seemingly, constant conversations with the facility about what her care and assistance is supposed to look like and dealing with "surprise charges" on her bill.) A silver lining to her cognition issues is that 99% of things that happened more than an hour ago get forgotten by her. It's served her really well in the move, thank goodness. However, I am still anxious about her making new friends as she had SO many loving, caring ones in Independent Living. Although she doesn't seem able to vocalize it, I think she has been a bit lonely despite participating in activities and getting out and about. My heart breaks for her on, what feels like, the daily.
I'm hopeful, though, that soon the other residents in AL get to see how sweet and awesome she is and that they begin reaching out to her, forming a supportive circle of friends for her. I'm also hoping that her recent cognitive issues will revert once she gets a bit more settled and the psychiatrist starts her on some cognitive medication. Fingers crossed!

Do you find WW easy to use? Is this current version considerably different than the last time you used it? I checked out the website after you mentioned you had restarted with them hoping to get a better idea of how it all works, but there wasn't a lot of info regarding specifics. Is there weighing or measuring of food involved? I don't mind either, but actually counting calories is something that, for some reason, I can't see doing past a day or two. Is WW strictly online and through apps or do they still do in-person meetings? How long ago did you first start using them? Do you feel like the changes they have made over the years have improved their program?

AMD I look at my WO time as part therapy/part meditative rehabilitation so it's more stressful than anything when something throws a wrench in the "set up".
I am going to have to listen to you and Elsie, though, and check out some white or pink noise machines. If it serves no other purpose than drowning out nighttime snoring, then it'll be worth it!
I'm feeling like I might be behaving a little pig-headedly and stupid stubborn in not wanting to be the one to make accommodations to NOT have to listen to mooing and rather be able to smartly find a solution to just eliminate the mooing altogether. LOL
In the past couple of years, I feel like I want to do cardio less and less. At least, pure cardio. It's hard for me to find WOs to fill in between my "lifting" days, which is pretty much all I want to do anymore.
I don't THINK I have arthritis, but I have no way of knowing for sure. I have a pathetically weak grip, and my hands get achy sometimes when holding on to things a lot. I think I just need to exercise them more?

amg I LOVE that you have found a way to get your DS involved with your daily exercise. That's so fantastic! And, it's even more fantastic that he is willing to try things out with you. (I have to confess. I have NO idea what pickle ball is, but you have me intrigued!)
Are you still doing Mark Lauren together? How do you like YAYOG? Do you find it repetitive? I love the idea of BW WOs, but it looks like they could be boring WOs so I'm interested in your opinion about them.
It seems like you have been feeling a little better so I'm glad for you about that.

Elsie I agree. You have been doing great with your WOs, esp. considering all the things you've had going on. WTG! Hope you've been making progress on all the move preparations.

ASAS I have the same problem with Essentrics as you -- having a hard time figuring out where to fit them in to my schedule. I needed a change when I did them, and I found them beneficial. Ultimately, though, I think my struggle in finding where to "put" them or how to work them in to my schedule/rotation is why I stopped doing them.

I love the whole dance set up you had going! Sounds like a surefire way to get up and moving. I have a WO "atmosphere", as well. Am I a total weirdo for exercising by candlelight during the fall and winter? LOL A substantial amount of my holiday decorations (for Harvest/Fall and Christmas/winter) are candle holders, which is where it stems from, and I exercise long after the sun has set so I take advantage of all the votives I have. It's a tough adjustment when everything needs to go back in to storage, and I need to go back to exercising by boring lamp light.

Tammie Thanks for letting me know about the second Rx WO. I am fortunate that, so far, my balance is pretty good, so, while I don't NEED to work on balance, I do enjoy exercises that incorporate it. It never hurts to stay on top of things, right?

Whew! Hope I haven't forgotten anyone!

Jane It looks like I am following in your footsteps with our WOs! I just did CL's Warrior KB 2 today and have Superset Circuit scheduled for tomorrow. I am anticipating enjoying the WO just as much as you did so I'm glad I have a confirmed fun factor from someone.

Do you plan your WOs before you do them? I have a loose, generic rotation that I use when choosing my WOs and pick WOs for the upcoming week or two. For each day, I select multiple WOs (or, at least one more than my first choice) so I have an option, if, when the day actually rolls around, my energy level is not what I expected. Consequently, I usually pick a WO for if I am really feeling strong and energized and another WO for if my energy level is low. That way, if my first choice doesn't pan out or feel right to me or my body, I have another WO to fall back on.

I wonder if maybe doing something like that may help you be more consistent with getting in some WOs after work. Or did I misunderstand you when you said you needed to figure something out to start getting in your WOs?

Another thing I do when I am struggling to be consistent or having a hard time getting in a WO groove is to just do shorter WOs. I love CL for that. Cathe has built up quite the cache of WOs 45 mins and under. They are over before I know, and I love knowing I got SOMETHING in for the day.
I often find on MEH days, the hardest hump to get over is just DECIDING to do a WO, even when I have intentions for it. I just make up my mind to do it, get dressed before I can think about it or change my mind, and that is, almost always, all I need to do to ensure a WO. As soon as I get my WO gear on, it changes my attitude and mindset. It's like, with the "uniform" on, I have been transformed in to a fitness warrior, and I am ready to crush whatever C has to throw at me.

Hey.
Tammie & AMD, echoing others, thanks for the detailed new KCM reviews. I haven't visited her for awhile, I think I have 2/3 dvds which is quite liked. I like that she doesn't overdo the number of sets! CardioFit sounds good and from the clip, Kelly looks so good!
I am definitely in the HATE Tabata camp. I don't see the point of it for ordinary non-elite athletes. But, if people get a benefit from them, then that's great!
Helen, it's nice that you and DH finally got some time together. It must be so tough being apart like that. Thanks for your useful productivity tips. I do think picking one/two things will prove better for me than this exhaustive weekly list I have going.
Jane, oh that is such very good news on your Dad's improvement!
Liz, our tentative move date from March - early May are very dependent on some factors which we cannot control, but right now we are looking at the 2nd week of April. Let's hope so! I'm so sorry about your Mom's cognition/condition. From what I've seen when working in home support, you are right to think that becoming more social will help her. I'm hoping that her environment/response to new environment continues to improve. Of course it is difficult for you. Hugs!!
AMD & Liz, many thanks for the encouragement re: Cee's lifting program. This is the first time in over 3.5 years that I have stuck with a program this long. Lol. I did like her Plateau Buster, but this one is more my level. It doesn't leave me feeling drained. I have also just had 3-4 terrible sleeps this month, so that helps. A LOT.
ASAS, is your neighbour situation improving at all? I also really like doing 'Game' activities. Just Dance for the Xbox is actually tough!!

Congrats everyone for all of the efforts and progress thus far in January!!
Take gentle care and stay safe!
