Great to see you again, Mrs. Lightyear!!! Good luck to you this month!!

Liz, where did you go???

Happy Monday, all! Tuesday for Helen??

ETA: I was reading online about Aldi's planners and they are having shipping delays and shouldn't appear in the store until the end of January!! My organization is severely affected!!! Recording my workout notes on a piece of paper right now. Ugh. Good thing we have this check-in!!!!

LOL OMG, how much of a flake am I? I stick my nose in the group, then disappear completely. I was just thinking about it today in the car.

Saying I am not much of a "talker" is already coming back to bite me. I feel like if I start, I will never shut up.

Long story short, lots of stuff going on with me -- house renos (that we have been PAINSTAKINGLY undertaking for the past THREE YEARS but finally getting to "finish" some things), a neighbor that "moos" all day and all night ([actually moos -- he sounds like a sad cow giving birth] about 12 times a day, once every 60-90 mins, including 1 and 4 in the AM!!!, 5-20 mins in duration so that is super fun!), moving Mom from Independent Living to Assisted Living after she started experiencing delusions about her neighbors in IL, reuniting with an estranged sister (for the aforementioned Mom move), and maneuvering a bump in the road with my SO.

Whew! Taking a breath. LOL Normally, I have SUCH a boring, uneventful life.

Anyway, the reason I was MIA right after "signing up" was because, while I somehow managed to keep up with my workouts the entire two months everything was kicking off and going down, MIRACULOUSLY (seriously, I don't know how I managed, those were CRAZY times!), last week, everything just went to h*ll in a handbasket for me regarding that. So, I had nothing to report! I got back on the horse today and will be updating my original post, like you all do.

PS Belated thank you for the warm welcomes!

Whoa, yes ... this month is going too fast now! And I still cannot get any quotes for moving costs. These shipping & moving companies are the Worst to try and deal with!
Hey Liz, oh you have had so many involved things going on. Not flakey at ALL. I'm also having overnight noise issues here (as I type). Happy to see you and sending you some good energy & all the best to your Mom! Cathe Live is definitely an energetic way to get back to IT!
T2B, love all your cardio variety!! What's Jazzercise like?
ASAS, I'm moving provinces - BC to Atlantic Canada. Many thanks for the well wishes!!!
Helen, oh that is an interesting and cute story! Thank you for sharing. Touching and personal space is such a regional thing right?! Lol. And of course, Covid has had such an affect on all of that as well now. How has school been?
Sollamyn, (hug) very sorry you've been down. Feel open to vent whenever!
AMD, Nice to hear that your Mom has been feeling pretty good/calm all things considered. The stress of appliance breakdown/repair/replacement is Real!!
Waving to ALL!!

It WAS you with the noise issues! Construction, right? I've been lurking around JTW and another check-in, and I couldn't remember which poster had been having the late-night disruptions. I knew they were from Canada, and I was thinking it was you. I just couldn't remember for sure.

So, yes, you can commiserate. I tried speaking with the individual. He lives with his parents in the house they rent right next door to us. I am friendly with his mother; he is a middle aged man, though. That was a VERY unsuccessful 1AM, 25*F walk across my yard in my pajamas.

I am open to suggestions from anyone who has had to deal with something similar. I am so desperate, I was thinking about posting about it in GD for ideas.

I was trying to do some back reading to catch up on all that's been going on with everyone else, but I feel like I missed a lot.

Elsie, will you be renting after your cross country move? Do you already have a place lined up? Is it a business or personal related move? I know it's stressful moving, but are you excited?

But, yes, CL is my go-to. For EVERYTHING. I continually find myself just doing CL. It's my mac 'n cheese of WOs. That is to say, my comfort food of exercising. For whatever ails me, CL will cure me.

AMD, please accept my late condolences for your father's passing. Echoing what others have said, it sounded like he had an incredible life, though. One filled with fun, love, laughter, family and friends. The kind of life most people dream of having. I'm glad to hear that your Mom has been doing well. It must be incredibly difficult and painful for her. Sending lots of love her way.

Wednesday morning for me now, posting for Tuesday. Thanks for that thought AMD!!

Elsie
I've been on summer holidays (end of our academic year) since a week prior to Christmas, where we left 2 days earlier than scheduled as school was closed due to one C-19 case - deep cleaning. No news yet about what's happening when we go back on 1st of February.
Sorry to hear about the noise issues - are there rules that you can call an authority about? We have noise rules that we can call police about after 10pm most days & midnight on Fri/Sat nights.

LIZ
Yup - agreed that's NOT flaky! Felt good to get it all out didn't it? Is the "mooing" a form of meditational chanting? Weird one.

Tuesday, 11th
Up to Day 09 for both Tim (morning) and Adriene (evening) 30 Day Yoga Challenges. Going well - my dog Alice is becoming familiar with their dogs.
Also - Cathe - Intensity Series - The Terminator - Imax Extreme
done in parts throughout the day - chunked it, to get it off my "Cathe Chrono" list. Did it in one hit a while ago and it wasn't pretty. By doing sections in between bouts of housework, was able to put more effort into each section than recent (sad) attempt. Shall do the same for The Viper & The Gauntlet.

Happy Wednesday!

Omg guys (Liz & Elsie) I can commiserate with the noise issues. I have a new neighbour for several months now, his wife arrived recently and they drive me bananas at times. He works at night, so he comes around 2-3 a.m. I KNOW because he slams the door shut so hard and I live next to the front door, then he goes upstairs like an elefant, and his wife is worst! They got up and down like animals, and they are not even heavy, it is annoying. Then at some point she was making weird noises at around 11pm when his DH is not there, then the door would open next when the noise was gone, we even thought that she was cheating on her DH for a while it seems like now they do Bangrah aerobic at whatever hour they feel like so, and I can even hear them speaking on the phone, they don't talk, they scream! And once, he knocked my door with a serious and unfriendly face, when I opened the door, he asked for my SO, to ask him our Internet password, since he didn't have connection for the weekend (???) Then, again I think I prefer them to the previous porn start we had before! Thanks for letting me vent!

Liz, you have a lof going on, I hope everything get back to your normal soon.

Waves to everyone!

AnMrsDe - glad to hear that your mom is doing good. Hope your sister is recovering well from her surgery too. Thanks for the update on the Aldi planners. I haven’t decided on what I’ll spend the money on (other than a Fitbit Charge 5), first I have to deduct my 2021 fitness dvd purchases from the total. .

Elsie - Jazzercise is like hi/Lo exercise, but more lo than hi, choreographed to great music. If you’re like me and have watched clips, the arm movements look spastic and weird but when you’re doing the workouts, it’s not so bad and works with the choreography. Wow, your move will be here before you know it. Maybe Cathe’s shipping won’t be as expensive when you move to the eastern part of Canada?

Jane - I hope your hubby is completely symptom free and back to feeling great. Thanks for sharing what you’ve been watching; I have Succession on my ever growing list. I started watching it but then I realized that I have to be focused when watching. I don’t have AppleTV or Disney right now. I watched The Wheel of Time on Amazon, never read the books, but enjoyed the series, and now I plan to read the books. Just started the new/last season of Search Party on HBO Max. DD & watch an episode or 2 of Grimm most nights. Hope your heel is better.

amg - good to see you back. Your son is such a sweetheart!

AsSweet -26 degrees? You’re brave and good job! Also, now I’m envious of your Essentrics purchases especially at such a great price. .

Liz - so I had to go back and read what you typed. For some reason I thought your house was next to someone with cows in a pasture.. Uh boy. I’d say be careful when it comes to addressing it with the son. Maybe talk to the Mom to see if it’s an anxiety issue, OCD type thing? People are so quick to anger lately so you never know what kind of reaction you may get.. Or maybe your HOA can address it, especially, if there are other neighbors experiencing the same thing.

Helen - good to see you back.

It was just one of those days where I was feeling chatty and fired up, so out onto the screen it all poured.
But, yes, VERY weird. They have lived next door to me for almost 9 years now, and he just started the mooing about 18 months ago. Randomly, infrequently, not for long and not particularly loud. At first, I thought it was some kind of breathwork. He seemed to be in to boxing and martial arts (he would sometimes be outside, "playing" with a wooden sword, like the one Ilaria uses in Forza), so my initial thought was that it had to do with exerting force and power on an exhale. Over the months, though, it became clear that that was NOT what was going on.

What a great idea! IMAX Extreme is on my Cathe bucket list, as well, but I am scared of it! LOL I recently did both The Gauntlet and The Viper, and, the toughest thing about them is their length. Both are very well suited to being done in chunks, though, and it would be beneficial with The Gauntlet. Those circuits start and end with a cardio so you end up having 2 cardios back to back!

Whoa! It definitely sounds like you are dealing with a lot, too! Are they from another country? Sometimes cultural differences are at the root of things (like Helen and Elsie were just mentioning, albeit in a different vein).
If the porn star was quieter, I think I would have preferred her. I'm always saying, I don't care if my neighbors are CRIMINALS as long as they conduct their business quietly. I long for nothing more than quiet in my neighborhood.

Our house now seems to straddle the 9th and 10th circles of H*LL as far as noise is concerned. Many a people are just SO eager to share their music with us at all hours and all decibels. We don't even live in a bad area. Our little section, though, is just one populated by inconsiderate people.
Isn't it just ASTOUNDING the nerve some people have? Your Internet password? As IF!

You know, I don't really mind if things don't "go back to normal". I appreciate the opportunity to do things for my mom and, oddly, to get out of my comfort zone. I don't handle things with as much calmness and ease as I would like so I'm also grateful to be able to "hone my skills" in that department. As long as my HOME is in order (literally, I'm an "A place for everything and everything in it's place" kind of gal), I can deal with most things. If my house is upside down and out of sorts, I feel like my life is that way, as well.

Well, I wish I had sought out your words of wisdom before speaking with him. I just could NOT take it anymore. I had long ago reached my boiling point and had just had ENOUGH. I've lived next to them long enough and observed his interactions with others often enough to not feel unsafe addressing him directly. I did end up speaking with his mother the following morning. Or, rather, LATER that morning.
After I spoke with him (to no avail), I called my local precinct to ask them to send some officers over. He stopped before they arrived, so I called the station back to let the desk sergeant know it was no longer necessary for the officers to make the trip. He said they were already en route and they would make the stop regardless just to check out the situation.

Later in the morning, when I was on my way out, I spotted her in the driveway and asked if she had a moment to speak; she said, "Sure." She turned back for a moment to grab her trash cans then faced me again and said, "The police came to my house last night. Is that what it's about?", and I said, "Yes." (Apparently, they had gone to her DOOR at the ungodly hour of 1:30 AM! ) I thought that she was going to be upset with me, but she quickly said, "Good. I'm glad. Call them again if you have to." Wha-wha-WHAT??

Turns out that they can't stand the mooing, either, and it's been keeping them up, too! She said they can never sleep anymore. My inner response was, "So why don't you DO something about it??!" He lives in the house THEY rent. (Nothing she has told me nor anything I have seen leads me to believe that he contributes in ANY way, financially, to the rent, though, of course, I have no way of knowing that for sure.)
(They have a VERY interesting household. It's her and her husband, who are the legal guardians to 2 of her eldest daughter's 3 children and one of her husband's nephews. Then, ANOTHER of her husband's nephews lives downstairs with the mooer. So 3 kids 14-17, the mooing son, the older nephew who is around the same age as the mooer, and her and her husband.)

I explained to her that I did not want to cause any problems for her (she has HEALTH issues, and, from our conversations, she just seems to be a sweet woman who is always doing something for one family member or another). She just basically told me to do what I have to. I continued that I was hoping to not have to escalate the situation or involve the police and was wondering if she could speak with him herself. She told me she TEXTED him to please lower the volume on his mooing but that he was still doing it.

I told her that it has just gotten to a point in which it was no longer possible to not say something about it. In a previous conversation, she shared with me that, shortly after enlisting (and never having engaged in combat), he had been honorably discharged from the Army after a training "accident", and "he hasn't been right ever since". (The discharge was well over 10 years ago, and, up until about 18 months ago, not a peep out of him for the 9 years that they have been next door.) She said to me again, "He's not right. Call the police. At best, at least he might be able to go get evaluated. He needs it. We've tried to speak with him about it, but he refuses. He needs help. He's doing it right now. (The mooing.)" She told me that her husband's nephew, the one that sleep downstairs with the mooer asked her to talk to her son, as well, as he, too, was having trouble sleeping but did not want to approach him himself. She said, "I don't know if he does it because of anxiety or what" to which I replied, "Well, that's what I had been thinking. That maybe it was a coping mechanism of some sort." She told me that she had no idea.

So, while I was relieved that I had not inadvertently caused problems for her or her husband, I became a little angry at the realization that she was essentially dumping her problem in to my lap and, seemingly, expecting me to handle her family business. I don't know. Am I being unfair to her in thinking that?
(I say this having lived through very difficult, stressful times for large portions of my life with a troubled, unstable family member in which it became necessary to make painful decisions and involve the courts and law enforcement to carry them out.)

Further, I did not want to be insensitive or unsympathetic to the situation if it was an issue of mental health. And, while I am certainly not qualified to make that distinction, after speaking with him, I'm not sure that that is what is going on. At least, not entirely.

What I DO know is that ever since I spoke with her on Monday morning -- and I do not want to jinx myself -- he seems to have been limiting his moo sessions to just once a day, of fairly short duration and, if my ears do not deceive me, at a much lower volume. I do not know if it will last, but I have been trying to enjoy the peace as much as I can. It's been AMAZING.

(Unfortunately, we do not have an HOA, otherwise I would have GLADLY explored that avenue.)

And, now that you all have been subjected to reading more than you ever wanted to know about my mooing neighbor situation, I will speak of it no more.

So much for "Just the workouts". Ha! LOL And what about not being much of a talker?? Who said that?
