Okay this extra-wide one looks good (can you tell I'm having fun? LOL). Rated to 500 lbs, 8" high (I'm thinking better than the other medical stool that's 9"), and the price is good too: http://www.amazon.com/Extra-Wide-Ste...BY9TC9NFHTZD6H

Stromberg Carlson seems to be a superior manufacturer, hence the better reviews and higher pricetag. But you don't need to spend that much.
Hey I wonder if this would work for you? http://www.walmart.com/ip/Gold-s-Gym...roduct+Reviews Under Reviews and Q+As someone who weighs 270 states that s/he has no problems with it (although the package states 250) and it's very sturdy. It's adjustable from 4-6" and the packaging seems to state it's 14"x27" which if so is pretty good. Most smaller steps are only 11" in depth.
