A Big Thank You to the Watulans!
Today marks the one-year anniversary of my car accident. There have been many ups and downs on the road to recovery. Two steps forward, one step back is often the path I am traveling. I have been challenged both physically and mentally while on this journey. I was probably in the best shape of my life before this happened. These days I struggle with pain, swelling, numbness, balance and decreased range of motion in both my leg and shoulder area. So many activities I once loved may never be a possibility again. Instead of becoming overwhelmed about the future, I decided to take it day by day. Progress is progress no matter how small. And I am definitely moving forward on my recovery. I was discharged from therapy at the end of December. At that time, I was walking with a cane, using home assistive devices and could barely walk above a speed of 1.4 on the treadmill. As of March, I no longer use any equipment and I have doubled my walking speed. The doctor said the process will take 1 to 2 years, so I need to remember this and have patience. I wouldn't be where I am today without all the kindness, love, and support from so many especially in those early days. So thank you again from the bottom of my heart. I am beyond blessed and grateful to have such amazing friends. I hope one day to give you all a big hug in person.
