I enjoyed French Braid as well, except I took a particular disliking to one character, which was unusual for me with an Anne Tyler novel.

I'll just tell you that it was Mercy and you can guess as to why.

Just finished Olive Kitteridge and enjoyed it. Some people found it depressing. I didn't. It's life. It's what happens. Sad things happen in life.
Now I'm reading Where The Crawdads Sing. I wanted to read this last summer but was never able to get it from the library. It was available during the winter but I wanted to save it for warm weather. I'm really enjoying it.

In the last month or so I've read

As Time Unfolds by Barbara Zerfoss (my cousin!)
The Second Mrs. Astor by Shana Abe
The Great Mrs. Elias ( ?? already returned to the library)

Right now I'm reading The Echoes by Jess Montgomery. It's the 4th in a series and I love all of them.

I'm happy to finally get back in the reading groove; was in a slump for quite a while.

My most recent reads Are Wildwood Creek--Lisa Wingate; The Paris Apartment--Lucy Foley; and Back Spin--Harlan Coben.

I just started The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections, and based on Beth's high recommendation, I plan to read Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine when I finish.

Lately I've read:

Evil in Emerald by A.M. Stuart - a historical mystery set in Singapore in the early 1900s. Third of a series. I liked it very much.

Inspector Singh Investigates: A Most Peculiar Malaysian Mystery - this is the first in a series (up to 7 books at this point). I really enjoyed this one. The main character is a somewhat bumbling and crumudgeonly police inspector who has been sent to Malaysia to investigate the murder of a famous Singapore model's abusive husband.

I just started The Cartographers. So far it's caught my attention.

I just finished Take My Hand by Dolen Perkins-Valdez, a novel inspired by Relf vs. Weinberger, a case about reproductive injustice that occurred in the early 1970's when thousands of poor women were being sterilized under federally funded programs.

I'm reading The Royal Governess by Wendy Holden. It has been a slower-than-usual read for me, but I've enjoyed it. And I'm reading American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins, which has been pretty riveting so far.

On the Kindle, recently I've read:

Write My Name Across the Sky by Barbara O'Neal
Elija by Charles Swindoll
Snowfall by Sharon Sala
The Last Green Valley by Mark Sullivan

After all the good reviews Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine received, I had to check it out. Is it just me, or is she the female version of Shaun Murphy (The Good Doctor)?
