Hi all. My workout yesterday was ICE Metabolic Training. It was pretty fun as usual.

T2B - Funny that we both picked an ICE workout yesterday! I agree it's a great series. My bicep pain has improved but it still hurts if I do a cross body bicep curl. I was able to improve to 18-1/2 lbs for bicep curls the last week of the STS 2.0 rotation, and was so tempted to go to 20 lbs but thought I'd better not try that until the bicep is completely fine. Is the Ryka Devotion true to size? I saw on Amazon that some people complained it was too small. I noticed that the toe box on the newer Rykas have been narrower than they used to be.

Gibbee - STS 2.0 is not as much of a time commitment as STS 1.0 so that's a plus if you don't have lots of time to work out.

Karjoy - I hope you escaped the worst of the hurricane. My fingers are crossed for you.

Cher - Wow, restaurants in your area have great deals. 78% off is amazing.

Have a great day, everyone.

Hi guys! We’re all ok! The storm was very powerful but struck maybe 40 ish
east of us thank heavens. There was a lot of coastal flooding off the coast just about 20 miles south of us. Our city has lots of trees down but most power is restored already. Lots of my friends have power still off.

Jbliff 20# biceps curls caused minor strain of my L bicep but it went away fast. Burn has 17.5# DBs which is perfect sometimes. Sometimes 5# is just too much an increase.

T2B sorry you have to go back to the office but moving the office sounds like it creates a whole other hardship. Like you say, you can still work from home 2 days a week. Most of my patients who work from home love it, but lots of them are having to go back to on site work. Some are kinda upset about that.

Cher I got a big kick out of you and your friends sitting in the back of the WW meeting because you had been “bad”. 78% off the bill was a nice birthday
present for your Mom.

Vannie I miss you!

Waves to Gibbee.

Hi All,

My alarm went off this morning and I could not get up so I worked out this afternoon, my cardio of choice was Yv2: WISI + Yv2: RIO.. Tomorrow is supposed to be P30 Upper & Lower but I think I’m going to copy JB and do ICE Metabolic Training instead.

My drive to the new office will be about the same in distance, with a lot more traffic lights. I don’t know why we have to move offices, the locations are equal.

Did y’all take a peek at the moon tonight? It’s beautiful.

Cher - Those new KCM’s sound like Slump Busters, So funny about your reason for being in the back at your WW sessions. I could tell that the ladies at my WW location were old friends, had been doing WW for years so it was more of a social thing for them.

JB - those crossbody bicep curls didn’t feel right for me so I stopped doing them after the first time doing the workout. Glad you were able to increase your weight, 18.5 # for biceps is pretty sweet, too. I wear a 8.5 M shoe and lately I have been buying Ryka’s in my true size, I can still wear thicker socks with the Devo XT. The toe box does appear to be a little sleeker, there’s more man made trim around the top of the shoe so maybe a 1/2 size up would be better. It really is hard to tell if they are right for you without trying them on.

Karjoy - Glad things are mostly ok in your area. I read months ago that the ocean was warmer off the FL coast and that would impact the intensity of tropical storms/hurricanes. I don’t know, the writing is on the wall that we have to do something especially for future generations but still nope.

Waves~~~

My workout yesterday was a walk with DH in the morning. In the afternoon I did 40 minutes on the elliptical + 20 minutes of yoga and foam rolling.

Karjoy
- Thank goodness you were spared the worst of the storm. It looks like Cedar Key got hit hard. Cedar Key holds a special place in my heart since it was where we used to visit and dredge for oysters when we lived in Florida.

T2B - I definitely stopped doing the cross body curls with heavier weights. I can do them with 8 lbs and not feel any pain, but heavier than that and the pain comes back. I've done curls with 22 lbs in the past but not since my bicep got hurt.

Hi to everyone. Have a great day.

Last day of the month, I better post to wrap it up!

I'm just quickly skimming so I'm sorry if I miss any questions!

T2B, I resisted YT for a good while but you know how FOMO is! I do a lot from there but they are mostly p/rehab stuff and challenges that suck me in. And Halloween workouts, of course!

JB, I love my Altras! What I like is the foot-shaped toe box so my toes have all the room they need to move freely and that they are zero-drop so there is no heel stack, which means my calves can completely lengthen and not be contracted when not needed. The one drawback I have noticed is that the tread seems to wear off faster than any of the other brands I have worn. Oh, two drawbacks, I guess. Their sizing is wacky! I have a size 8 Olympus that feels a little smaller than my size 7.5 Duo. SO you really kind of have to try them on to get thee right size. I like knowing with Saucony I can always just buy size 8.

Karen, glad you didn't get too much storm damage. When you train for trail races do you run or hike hills to help prepare or just make sure not to neglect your lower body strength training? Thanks for missing me!

Cheryl, thinking of you as you go through your sister's stuff and try to get back on track. I know it isn't easy!

Gibbee, wow, time flies, both on how long you and your BF have been together and how long it's been since you fell! I'm sorry you're still not all healed up. My elbow isn't all healed as there is a knot where I scraped it and it hurts. I sort of was able to do a side elbow plank the other day but it wasn't great. I don't know if I didn't get it as clean as I thought and it healed over smthg or just what. My posterior chain seems to finally be settled down after the impact, so I'm very thankful for that.

8/11-8/13 we went up north to see my father-in-law and also went to the 2nd year for a small Ren Fest an hour away from him

8/20 opening wknd of the MN Ren Fest-Saturday was brutally hot at about 95 degrees with heat index over 100 so we waited to Sunday when it was around 10 degrees cooler--so good to see our favorite vendors again! Heck, we probably spent around 3 hours just visiting and catching up with the different ones!

8/22-8/24 went camping with my dad and uncle up north, got to see my brother for a few hours too bc he was up from AZ too but for unrelated reasons, stopped and visited with my aunt on my way home

8/26 went to the MN Ren Fest again--much nicer weather this wknd!

The brutal heat is returning tmrw and I am SO OVER IT!! They're predicting 99 for Sunday. In September. In Minnesota!!!

I don't know why I can't seem to post regularly but it's not going to get a lot better for a while. This is my busiest time of year with all the Ren Fests and Halloween planning/decorating, plus my dad will be here for a couple weeks so I have a lot to do before he gets here and then I won't be on the forum much while he's here visiting. I really need to keep getting in workouts while he's here though if I have any hope of doing the trail races I want to do this fall. I just have to figure out the minimum I can get by with since I don't want to take away from time with him.

Drive by: 45 minutes on the treadmill. I actually took an extra rest day yesterday
because of not sleeping well the night before the storm, anxiety about when the damn thing was gonna hit and when it would be over. You get the picture. Nice to hear from you Vannie.
