barre 3 30 minutes. Yesterday yin yoga class. We are off for a few days for a rental by the lake. Will still be in triple digits, but at least there will be water.

Cynthia, sorry to report that this instructor DID use the term "full expression of the pose." She is more traditional barre, so I didn't mind.

Diana, welcome back. Hope you had a good time away.

Cheryl, sounds like a stressful time with the container, but that's pretty much par for the course with these sorts of things. Hopefully it will all be sorted out soon.

Welcome back, Diana! Sounds like you had a nice time.

I haven't done anything for days, torn b/t feeling the need to do the 5th & final round of dumbbells, and a strong case of I don't wanna. Realized the moves (same each round, varied by reps & sets) are not the best for me. Weighted reverse lunges did my knees no good and all those shoulder presses bleagh. What clinched it was seeing my calves, which were not getting worked. Knee arthritis can lead to calf muscle atrophy.

Check-in: Xtend Barre from BBOD. I printed out the calendar of a whole month of half-hour barre. Yay. There are also hybrid calendars for barre, Pilates, and stretching. Today was barre signature 1. I could do everything, but didn't do the optional jumping. Broke a sweat doing releve's. (imagine that's an accent mark, not an apostrophe)

No pancakes today. Next week there will be groups on Monday and Wednesday, kids who live in farmworker camps. We do this in cooperation with the Catholic Diocese of Monterey. The kids are not allowed to stay overnight, so they get the whole program in one day. Then one more regular group next week & that'll wrap up the summer programs.

The lake house is really nice. It is still in triple digits, but we have enjoyed just looking out at the lake and sitting out by it later in the day. I am going in briefly before sitting out just to cool off, but it is a bit yucky (muddy with weird stuff growing on the bottom). Looks nice though and it cools you off. It's outside of hot springs so we toured the bathhouse row yesterday. Did not feel like doing the one traditional bath place left. Too hot! The actual springs are 143 degrees (there is a fountain and you can feel it). Not that the baths are that hot, but not really the right time for a bath treatment. Today we will go to the botanical gardens. The strategy is short outings and then hang out at the lake house. Yesterday did a 45 minute barre 3 and today did a Melt knee treatment. I've been doing Melt pretty regularly and my knees are actually good these days. Either Melt or time.

Cynthia, good you dumped the plan you weren't keen on.

Diana, luckily my DH sort of figured out the TVs early on in this stay. I've sticked to my laptop and Netflix so I haven't bothered with any of it.

Check-in: Xtend Barre UB sculpt & define 1. These little 30 min things are tough, and a sweatfest. There are no scheduled rest days in this program, but I can fix that; not yet, though.
