Jessica Smith!

I just felt the need to rave about how awesome and utterly fantastic Jessica's YouTube offerings are! Not that it hasn't been done, but hey, it hasn't been done by me yet.

Seriously, though, I could not be more impressed. The whole "live from the living room" mentality makes me feel like she's right there with me, like my own personal trainer. I love how well she cues! She is so great at giving those little tips that really help with positioning and alignment. And she got me to do her whole series of single leg squats during Stride and Strength this evening! I've been slowly waking up my muscles after some time away from "intentional exercise," and these past few days have been trying to step it up a notch. Well, Jessica really motivated me to step it up this evening.

I just her. Seriously, and these walking workouts she's doing? Heck yes! More please!

I love all things Jessica Smith. I can't wait for her new workouts this year!

I find her dvds to be too advanced for me personally, and it's too much work to constantly have to think of modifications. I really enjoy her fusion approach to walking especially, barefoot! She sneaks in some more traditional style training too, which is good for me to do every now and again. In the long run, I think I will work out with Jessica and Ellen primarily, and I think they'll complement one another nicely.

I have been doing her workouts several times a week along with other things and I'm really enjoying myself. I haven't seen any weight loss yet, but I'm hoping for that "whoosh" affect any day now. It takes me a long time to show changes but I tend to plateau for a while and then lose a few pounds overnight. I'm on this rotation until March when TA's Pregnancy Project gets here (no, I am not pregnant or intending to be), and then I will switch it up.

I have been loving her workouts too. They are at just the right level for me right now and she is so encouraging. Sometimes I don't like workouts that are homemade on Youtube because the instructor is annoying or they are not well put together, but something about her workouts draws me in. It also helps to have peanut join the workout here and there, that keeps me more focused on the workout rather than my usual clock watching.

I like the beginner workout she did with her mother doing the exercises. I'm 63 and this fit the bill perfectly for when I don't want to spend a lot of time, but I want to get something done.

I haven't tried Sole Sculpt yet, but I do enjoy the barefoot approach a lot. I find my feet cramp easily if I do too much pointing/flexing in shoes. Also, I notice more when I start leaning too far forward, and putting too much weight on my toes, which ultimately tweaks my knees. Gotta get those hips back in the squats! I don't know why that's so hard for me? All I know is I have to concentrate on it a lot more that I should...

That would make things easier! I just download them, convert the files, and burn them to discs. I like working out in complete privacy, even if that means using a tiny tv with a dial for volume control that is upstairs in the bedroom. I do like having hard copies of the dvds.

Is that how it works - nothing much happens and then whoosh? Note to self: "Hold out for the whoosh." Something to look forward to! I'm actually thinking of making a disc for my sister, who's about six weeks post-partum and a little bluesy, with some of these low impact, nice beginner walks. I try not to be envious of how she's dropping weight without doing anything at all though!

Jessica rocks! I just posted a comment to her YouTube channel and she replied back within 30 minutes!

She is, I think, a super kind, thoughtful, and genuine person. Here is what she replied after I commented a summed up version of my OP:

Hi Laura! Thanks so much for the rave review :-D It makes me so happy to know you are enjoying the walking workouts! And please don't give up! Stick with me - don't just focus on your destination - enjoy the journey! It may be tough to see on a daily basis, but every single step you are taking is bringing you one step closer to your goals. You can do this! Thanks for walking with me & I'll look forward to our next session together Keep up the great work you are doing!

Yep - I'm buying her upcoming dvds, no question.
