Unfashionable AWT-er looking for recs!

Hi:

I'm a long time lurker but need some advice! I am an old school Firmer (Vol 2 was my first and favorite tape for years) and have mostly done AWT and sculpting tapes on and off thru the years. Since finding this wonderful site, I have finally moved away from only Firms and now do a combo of many great instructers/systes such as Tonique, Jari Love, Peak 10, etc. In fact I am sick of 90% of my Firms!

I see Tracy Anderson is the big thing now but I'm wondering if anyone can recommend AWT c emphasis on intense cardio (like Peak 10) or total body strength w/o with cardio thrown in (like Jari Ripped 1000). I am eyeing the Paul Katami w/os but think they may be too advanced for me. I have one Cathe tape, Kick Punch Crunch, which I like but it has no weights. I dislike doing straight cardio or strenght when its possible (kindof) to do both at the same time. Would Imax 2 c Cardio and Weights be a good choice?

I go back and forth on loving intense cardio. For now it is the biggest endorphin rush I can get! (Been divorced a year now, sigh. I take endorphins where I can get them! lol)

Sorry for length and thanks in advance! Rita

You might like the new Tracie Long Leaning Out workout (it is from the Longevity series). It is one of my new faves and I started with all the classic Firms. In fact, you might like a lot of Tracie's new offerings. I prefer AWT-type workouts, too.

If you are doing Peak 10 Cardio/Strength, you can definitely handle Paul Katami's BootCamp or HardBall. Also check into Patrick's Lean Hot Body.

I don't think Cathe C & Ws is a good choice since you will be paying for a DVD that 1/2 is straight step. And I don't have Tracie Longs Leaning Out, but have/had/tried all her others from the Longevity/Focus series and the cardio portion is not intense.

Others to consider, anything by Angie Miller and Amy Dixon's SuperFit Bod.

Have you seen the clips for Atletica (am I spelling that right?)? It's really a different workout and it combines strength and cardio. It would be a good workout to give you variety in your workouts.

Stephanie Vittorino's first DVD comes to mind. It has 2 half hour segments, one with step and one without. Seems most Firm-ish of anything in the category.

Another rec for Tracie Long's newest offerings. And if you can do Tonique, Atletica might be good, too.

Good recommendations!

I don't know if these are what you are looking for but they are strength with cardio that I found to be intermediate to challenging & fun (the lengths in minutes are in parenthesis):

- All Body Attack Cia 2704 Sharon Twombly (72 to 84))
- All Body Cardio Cia 2604 Sharon Twombly (74)
- CIA 2K07 R.A.W. (66)
- Michelle Dozois: Your BB Circuit 35-57)
- Heather Ryder: Power to the 3rd (43) (don't remember if this is easy or hard or what, though)
- Patrick: Body Design (60 or 81)
- Patrick: Hard Work Conditioning
- Patrick: Hard Work Conditioning 2 and 24/7 (I haven't done these but they are on my wish list & look good!)
- Tracey Staehle: Results Boost Met. (52)
- Cathe: Boot Camp (58)
- Cathe: Step, Jump, Pump (75)
- Cathe: High Step Challenge (68)
- Cathe: Circuit Max (60) ?
- Cathe: Body Max 2 ??? Can't remember if the cardio is interspersed much - I think it is more separate
- Firm: Pump, Jump, & Jab (41)
- Firm: Get Chisel’d (41)
- Michael O: Aero Jump/Sculpt (63)
- CLX Burn Intervals (47)
- Stephanie Vitorino Ultimate Body Shaper (71) and maybe Body Target 60 (haven't done this one but it looks tough)
- Jillian Michaels 30-Day Shred (27 to 81)
- Bipasha Love Yourself - not very challenging but good music & enjoyable!

Good luck choosing!

What about Kelly-Coffey?

I like her Circuit Burn and I've heard Bootcamp is pretty good.
