Question Circuits and AWT workouts

I'm so bad at planning what workouts to use when doing circuits or AWT. So, I'm here to see what you all do.

I just finished a week of strength and cardio using Cathe's 4-Day Split.......Those are easy......You tack on some cardio, follow it up with one of the 4-Day Splits and off you go.

But, this week, I was considering doing a week of circuits. I have so many from Michelle Dozois', the premixes on Cathe's new 4-DS, Amy Bento, etc. So, would it be okay to do one day of circuits and the next just cardio for 6 days?

If the following week I decide to do all of the new TransFIRMation workouts and most of them are AWT........Do I need to split those with a cardio day in between, too?

Thanks for your help........I get so mixed up when it comes to workouts that involve both cardio and strength.

If you're doing the Transfirmation dvds then you can probably do them each day since they're not heavy weights, but I'd be careful about aggravating joints. Some of the (functional?) exercises move quickly and might need modification if you're doing daily. I'd throw in a few more more rest or light walking days with this rotation.

I always wonder about doing AWT daily. I guess it's probably an individual thing. I tend to stick with alternating weights with cardio days whether it's AWT or weights only. Just feels better to me. Plus I think I would get burned out on weights doing them every day.

I'd say if you really want to do AWT or circuits daily, try it and see how your body reacts and see if you like it. Seems like the general consensus is that you can do light weights back to back.

I usually do a circuit workout if I do a third weight workout in a week.

I love circuit workouts and AWT but I always do them every other day, usually Mon/Wed/Fri.
Like LuckyStar said I worry about aggravating my joints.

I try to go for a cross-training effect by alternating circuits/awt days with either:
a) HIIT cardio on my elliptical (CardioCoach)
b) power yoga / pilates / or some other stretching type workout (KV's YogaSculpt; Kari's ALC II; Bar Method etc...)
c) Kickboxing (if I feel up to it)
d) swimming or walking

Thanks, everyone!

I was going to alternate the circuit/AWT days with cardio days because I want to be using heavy weights. I just needed the assurance that that was what I was supposed to do!

I love circuit workouts as well. I do the new Firm workouts with a day between. They are lighter weights, but I personally dont feel comfortable doing these every day. I do a cardio workout in between.
