O/T: Does your cell phone have Facial ID?
 

I just upgraded to a new iPhone that has Facial ID capabilities. (My old one didn't even have Touch ID.) I'm used to using a password.

If your phone has this, how do you like it? I know it is awkward now with mask wearing going on, but just in general, how is that technology working for you?

I have Facial ID on my iPhone and I like it. Before that I had the fingerprint ID on my iPhone but that feature NEVER worked for me so I much prefer the Facial ID which always works. One pandemic problem with it is if you are away from home and wearing a mask, the Facial ID won't work! :p

I love it! It only took me a day to be spoiled by the facial recognition. It is so frustrating though when I have a mask on. I hate having to enter a password when wearing the mask.

I haven't tried this but I'm told you can take a new picture with a mask on for facial recognition? But I'm not sure that makes sense because how many faces will it recognize? I know with fingerprints it was more than one, because at least one of my kids made his print work, but faces? I agree that the facial recognition is way more reliable than the fingerprints!

Apparently, on an iPhone 12, you can have TWO faces for Facial ID. The other is called an "Alternative Appearance." I need to read more about it.

That's really cool. I wonder if I could have my other photo be with a mask. The photo ID works really well. I just get annoyed because I can't use it in the grocery store because of me wearing a mask.

Yes, that's what I meant about wondering if it can do more than one face.... then you can have one picture maskless and one with mask. Well, apparently only if you have an iPhone 12. ;)
