USPS Media Mail

USPS Media Mail has been really fast lately. I notice that if you use PayPal to buy postage, which includes the label to the addressee, postage, and tracking # (tracking # is free), the item moves pretty fast from Florida to Hawaii.

I recently ordered something on ebay and it arrived early! instead of taking 22 calendar days, it took 4 days. And yes, it was sent media mail.

That's lightning fast!

Media mail has not been any slower or faster than first class mail for me.

Re: eBay..what takes the longest is how long the seller holds the item before the post office takes possession.

Gee whiz! 4 days to HI? That's lightning fast lol. That must have been a pleasant surprise to get your goodies early.

My media mail from Totalfitness came in 2 days which shocked me. That's a 1,100 mile trip. I had to check the label today to make sure it wasn't an overnight package :D I only ship first class or media mail, if possible. It's priority mail that's been slower than usual for me. They all seem to deliver around 3-4 days.

I expect it to become much slower as I read that USPS employees are planning a strike over wages soon.

I think it's UPS, not USPS, that will likely have a strike. But that probably will slow down post office deliveries since they will end up with more packages.

Just did a media mail trade with a VFer in Florida. BOTH of our packages arrived in 3 days on each side of the hemisphere.:sun:

Yep..just traded using media mail and no issues across the country

The Reading Glasses podcast just did an episode about Media Mail this week, explaining what it's for and why certain items aren't eligible (i.e. comic books, because they contain ads), and they said it's taking 2-8 days for most packages now.

It was originally created in the 30's I think they said to promote the flow of educational materials. Fitness videos certainly apply :D

Thanks for sharing the history lesson! That's cool to learn about its educational encouragement and the comic book ads disqualification. :)

Many magazines have ads. I wonder if you can send them using media mail.
