Loading Recommendations for Muscle Strength, Hypertrophy, and Local Endurance: A Re-Examination of the Repetition Continuum

I haven't read it yet- my daughter sent it to me.
Looks like coffee with a decent bit of workout procrastination to me!

I skimmed it, cause my coffee hasn't kicked in enough for an article like this but I do wish more place would test other subjects other than just young men.
Test young women, test middle aged women, test old men, test people other than the people at the peak of their strength and vigor.

Yes, that high level of testosterone makes a big difference.

There are a few included studies with young and middle-aged women in the review.

The reason it’s almost all young men is because research is expensive, and who is cheap, easy to recruit, and happy to come in multiple times a week for many weeks to a college campus physiology lab/gym? 18-21 year old male undergraduates.

It’s the same reason that so much of psychology research is done on college students, which not only are of a certain age, but often are not the most socioeconomically diverse. And it’s a problem.

YES!!!

I have heard that a lot of scientific 'knowledge' in medicine, psychology, and physiology should be regarded with a some skepticism as most of the studies are done in/on countries/people that are:
Western
Educated
Industrialised
Rich
Democratic
WEIRD. It is a known bias, as they don't represent the vast majority of the global population - satisfying the WEIRD criteria makes them outliers.
Aaannnd, mostly on males under 25 - which narrows the field even more - and then there's the colour issue too - there are strong differences in populations there as well.

That has bothered me ever since I first heard of it - well over a decade ago.
